He never talks about it. I wondered if anyone was aware of it.

No, probably no one has a clue eh. What do you think?
This is more than a little petty.
GV27:
I think their problem is the bit we did a lot better in was back in 2020 before the last election; with it now just being 'oh well, fill your boots', just as all the economic fallout from a bunch of printed money and keeping interest rates too low for too long is starting to bite. It's probably been too long since we actually nailed anything Covid-wise to use as a fall-back as petrol hits $3.60 a litre and other living costs are rocketing ahead, and in the absence of policy wins such as actually building rapid transit like light rail (not the bloated monstrosities they keep proposing) or meaningful housing or tax reform.
2023 is shaping up to be a battle of the least-worst and the biggest losers will end up being voters themselves, no matter who wins.
Nail>head there. With living costs and inflation hurting every kiwi in the back pocket, what wonderful news it was to have the commerce commission looking into Electricty, Fuel retailers and supermarkets. What we got was the removal of electrcity prompt payment discounts (fairer for all), removal of low user plans (fairer for all) and in Fuel pricing boards showing all fuel range prices. Not anything of significance sadly and in some cases making the poor even worse off.
I see Labour are currently working on removal of the three strikes law and still trying to push through councils with the 3 waters reform. Everyday costs get higher and they wonder why they are sliding down the polls

I know, sorry...but really, his comment was totally unnecessary and unhelpful. I'm quite certain that everyone knows Luxon used to run Air NZ.
Sorry but if I see sarcasm directed at me I just give it right back.

I wonder if the massive long lockdown of Auckland is contributing, there was and probably still is a lot of resentment in this city over that.
Impacting how Aucklanders feel about Labour, and why it is in Auckland that most of the electoral loss is happening.
If so I am not sure what can be done to make up for that now, especially given Omicron.

(could also fit in the National party thread).
Yea I find the acceptance of Robertson's comments about the inflation component of tax being taken out of tax brackets as triggering some sort of crippling of the public service kind of infuriating - like it's literally saying "We're facing rising costs so we need that money but you facing rising costs of living is somehow fundamentally different and therefore you don't need that money".
I feel like people would be less inclined to buy into National's argument if there hasn't been high profile failure after failure of government policies in places like Auckland, where everything is getting more expensive and the projects to help relieve the pressure are just either forgotten about or endlessly deferred. It's pretty easy to get the feeling we're not exactly getting the kind of value that would warrant that kind of presumptive right to the pay rises people get in a bid to stop them going backwards faster, and I wish someone would challenge him on this.

Cheer up. It wasn’t directed at you it was directed at old mate Luxon who can’t help mentioning he ran an airline at every opportunity.
The complaint of pettiness is fairly amusing that a thread full of endless petty complaints about the government.
If someone was to refer to Ms Arden in such a manner, people would be outraged.
Endless petty complaints? Failure to deliver on almost every major policy they have campaigned on is easily the vast majority of what gets complained about, but don't let the truth get in the way of a good bit of snark eh?
Compared to that, yes, complaining about Luxons mentioning of running an airline seems exceptionally petty. The fact you didn't let it go when it fell flat the first two times and had to explain it shows you seem to be more triggered by it than most.
OK now this whole discussion has become petty. How about getting back to the actual issues?
Plesse igmore amd axxept applogies in adbance fir anu typos
Some of the vote's have come back from act for National since crusher was ousted.
I am surprised he did not get rid of some of old guard like Brownlee could have got a few extra poll points just for that lol.
Labour has missed the mark on most of their policies and now the nats have a more personable person things are going to be very close come election I would say.

Another one that could easily fit in the National thread - this one talks about Luxon's high poll numbers and if the Government should be worrying yet.
I am confused as I am most of the time with politics.
Do you not need a certain threshold percentage wise of seats to run or enter parliament ie 2% or 5% or something ??
Did the Maori reach this threshold I thought they were under it like NZ first so how did they get seats
Genuine question as it has me confused a little.
