I've never seen a fifa trophy look so creepy.

Made me think of the HP "Magic is Might" Statue... :)

Magic is might monument

Not being a Harry Potter fan, I was confused but not entirely surprised that HP would produce something like that. I was wondering if the statue was a metaphor for printer ink subscriptions or something.

Regarding Trump's reasons it's either because only 15 to 16% of African-American (Black) voters supported Trump in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, or Trump hates black bears :)

US park service to offer free entry on Trump’s birthday but revokes it for civil rights activist Martin Luther King Day and end of slavery in America, emancipation day, Juneteenth: The Guardian

Civil rights leaders decry administration’s move to downplay Black American history and promote president

The US’s National Park Service (NPS) will offer free admission to US residents on Donald Trump’s birthday in 2026 – which also happens to be Flag Day – but is eliminating the benefit for Martin Luther King Jr Day and emancipation day Juneteenth.

The new list of free admission days for Americans is the latest example of the Trump administration downplaying America’s civil rights history while also promoting the president’s image, name and legacy.
...
The new free-admission policy takes effect on 1 January and was one of several changes announced by the park service late in November, including higher admission fees for international visitors.

Immediate impression: oppression.

OT: But HP has been banned from my house for quite some time now. Once a reputable measuring equipment company (I own several of their products, including the last scientific calculator model they produced), it then became a mediocre computer retailer with overly aggressive profit motives.

Indeed, his constant stream of bs is slowly starting to catch him out, especially with his own voters. Case in point:

and now (https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-economy-campaign-speech-pennsylvania-rcna248291):

See, even the orange buffoon has a limit as to how far he can get away with spinning his nonsense - especially when it comes to his voters wallets.

Completely nuts. I really wonder what the American presidency will look like after this is over. It's a long long time until January 6th 2029.

Now that the cage of fools has been thrown wide open and they have ‘cleaned everything up,’ we will probably see the next fools. The American value system itself has already become completely skewed. The only thing that will probably help to change this is a ‘hard reset’ – whatever form that may take. We had one on 8 May 1945, for example.

President Donald Trump heads to Pennsylvania on Tuesday to change his message on the "affordability" crisis that he's spent the past year denying existed. Now that he's admitting that costs are up, inflation still isn't great, health care will be increasing dramatically and Americans continue to struggle. Trump's solution has been to blame former President Joe Biden, and his staff is reportedly begging him to stop doing it.

As Christopher Luxon is (potentially) learning, blaming the last government for everything going wrong today will only take you so far. Sooner or later you have to start owning it.

Is he still going to be blaming Biden for the issues of the day in 2027? 🙄

US President Donald Trump's administration is planning to order visa-exempt foreign tourists, including Australians [and Kiwis], to disclose their social media histories from the past five years before entering the country.

I guess that's me not going anywhere near the US while the orange buffoon is in power. But sure, go ahead and tell me how this petty, childish crap brings prices down again? 🤷‍♂️

Applicants would also have to submit other "high-value data fields" including phone numbers from the last five years, email addresses from the past decade, personal details of family members and biometric information.

With that level of information it's likely there will be many false positives and holidays ruined at the point of entry. Many tourists will choose to go elsewhere, almost anywhere else.

A significant portion already have. Unsurprisingly, the US is the only country seeing a drop in visitor numbers since the start of the year.

Baffles me as to why 😁

Trump's claims of anti-drug action against Venezuela always seemed silly because nearly all drugs entering the USA come from elsewhere. It looked more like preparation for an oil blockade.

Now it is an oil blockade. Trump announces oil tanker seizure:

In May , Trump stated that he could not rule out a U.S. annexation of the Greenland, the autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark

Greenlandic and Danish authorities have publicly asserted Greenland's right to self-determination and stated that Greenland is "not for sale".

There, but for the grace of God, goes Greenland.

Politico has been doing some polling as to what Americans' biggest concerns are. Cost of living is still ranking quite highly - this is despite the orange buffoon campaigning on (as above) bringing down prices "from day 1".

Just like the Ukraine War, right? Ended within "24 hours".

Here we are 11 months on and things are...basically unchanged 🤷‍♂️

There are a few other issues mentioned there as well, but who knows what his plans are to fix any of them, apart from his go-to response of blaming Biden.

President Donald Trump gave himself an “A-plus-plus-plus-plus-plus” grade on the economy...

What the hell. If how he sees things now as "A+++++" Christ only knows what he'd say during a recession!
