Technofreak: I have no time for Trump but I call BS on this. Plucking at straws to concoct a story.

Personally I don't find the Trump footage in the clip convincing about anything. Rubio looks extremely suspect to me. However, that's only the latest in many very suspicious clips featuring members of the Trump administration. Imo, they know they're they're beyond the law and they're probably right. It's really only street users that are arrested. People like Jr and Rubio are always friend of a friend and a couple of levels removed from risk. Imo it's all a side issue from the real damage they are doing to USA interests and not worth spending a lot of time on.

Ron DeSantis in Florida goes anti-AI on religion, jobs, and datacenters:

This is likely to remain a strong point of difference with other major presidential candidates in 2028.

Both of these are blank for now
  • trumpkennedycenter.org
  • trumpkennedycenter.com
But I'd expect a Trump's face will turn a new shade of orange on writer Toby Morton updates them.

South Park writer bought Trump-Kennedy Center domain names months ago to troll president

It looks like the writers of South Park are following in The Simpsons' footsteps when it comes to predicting future events.

In a recent interview with The Washington Post, writer Toby Morton revealed that not only did he predict that Donald Trump would decide to add his name to the The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, he prepared for it. In August, the writer, who regularly buys political domains and turns them into satirical websites as a form of activism, bought the rights to both trumpkennedycenter.org and trumpkennedycenter.com.

What is means after pealing away the conman layers.

“The idea of this transhumanist strain, that somehow this is going to supplant humans and this other stuff, we have to reject that with every fiber of our being, We as individual human beings are the ones that were endowed by God with certain inalienable rights. That’s what our country was founded upon — they did not endow machines or these computers for this.”

Julian Huxley in 1957 coined transhumanism: Humans can and should use technology to reduce biological limits, such as disease, aging, cognitive constraints. This included vaccines, prosthetics, and statistical analysis of disease.

I believe Ron DeSantis believes
  • Humans are divinely unique
  • Any talk of enhancement = heresy
  • Any powerful machine = rival creation (or possibly idolatry)
  • AI attempts to replace God’s role
He has re-centering rights in theology, not law or social contract, and inventing a threat that machines might get rights”. He also positioning critics as anti-human.

Ironically if he based his opposition of AI around protecting humanity from mass unemployment at all levels, more insidious disinformation, privacy invasion, and making cyber crime much easier, I'd actually support him.

DeSantis does make those points. Nevertheless I doubt you'd want to support him. Like any presidential candidate he's just raising the price the cloud gods will need to pay him off

Yes, you'll remember when campaigning Trump shared a photo caption claiming DeSantis was “grooming high school girls with alcohol” during his teaching years.

Pot, kettle, black.

A pro-Trump super PAC ran an ad mocking DeSantis for eating chocolate pudding with his fingers, with a sexualized undertones.

Trump’s campaign allies
  • While golfing, “Not surprised Ron DeSantis is looking for a set of balls”.

  • mocking his wife campaign style, compared her to Lady Macbeth

  • On his wife, Roger Stone posted “See U Next Tuesday” coded slang for C_NT.

U.S. Wine Exports to Canada Plunge 91% Amid Trade Dispute, Costing Producers $161 Million: Vinetur

American wine exports to Canada have experienced a dramatic decline since March 2025, following a series of trade disputes between the two countries. According to a recent report from the Wine Institute, based in Sacramento, U.S. wine exports to Canada dropped by 91 percent between March and July compared to the same period last year. The group estimates that American producers have lost about $161 million in export value since the start of the ban.

Canada has long been a crucial market for American wine, accounting for 36 percent of U.S. wine exports in 2024. The sharp drop in sales began after the Canadian government imposed retaliatory tariffs on U.S. imports in response to tariffs placed by President Donald Trump on Canadian goods. In addition to federal action, several provinces, including Ontario and Quebec, removed U.S. alcohol from their government-run liquor stores.

This gets into a weird area of US law because US law is always complex.

It's funny how conservatives shed tears if a US flag touches the ground, or it set on fire, but have no problem with a US flag being made into underwear.

It's illegal to "mutilate, cut, deface, disfigure, or perforate U.S. currency with intent to render it unfit for circulation." The word "circulation" means spend.

it is generally legal to altering bills for art, collectibles, souvenirs, or novelty items. It's OK to selling them clearly as collectibles, not money.

It's also tacky, disrespectful and unpatriotic.

This description is technically accurate "Trump Portrait and Signature on Lеgal Currency" However it is no longer legal currency for spending.

In the spirit of this post, here's Trump on stage fondling an American flag, and yes, that's Trump playing “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” by The Rolling Stones (1969) in the background.

For youngsters, that song is about accepting limits, compromise, and not having every desire fulfilled. The song underscores that democracy involves not always winning or getting your way.

So it's deeply ironic, at that CPAC speech this year, remember he's President during this meeting, Trump repeated false claims about election fraud and that past elections were “stolen.”

Personally, I would say he "whined" about the election being "stolen" (as Christ alone knows he won't shut up about it), although it begs the question if it really was "stolen" in 2020, what happened in 2024? Did the same "thieves" just forget to "steal" the election again? 🙄

This old person remembers that song being about addiction to heroin and the availability of methadone to registered addicts.

Rikkitic you could argue both. The methadone/heroin reference in the Chelsea Drug Store verse is contextual,

Everyone, it's a great song and you should check it out if you haven't heard it before.

The only odder song I could think of for a Conservative PAC gathering is Lou Reed's "Walk on the Wild Side", Creedence Clearwater Revival “Fortunate Son” or best of all Green Day “American Idiot”

This is true:

And another case of the-leopards-ate-my-face:

(only issue is that one impacts everyone, not just the people who voted against the orange buffoon - as MAGA are slowly but surely discovering).
