The Trump administration’s rapid and aggressive response to the Minnesota shooting has prompted quiet concern among some administration allies, as well as former and current Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.

Particular anguish centers around how quickly Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, in public remarks from Brownsville, Texas, on Wednesday insisted that Renee Good, the 37-year old woman killed by an ICE officer, had committed an act of “domestic terrorism” and tried to “ram them with her vehicle.”

Even supporters of the president fear that the administration’s approach — within hours the White House deputy chief of staff had also deemed this a case of “domestic terrorism” — risks undermining public confidence in the ongoing investigation and expanding the credibility gap between the public and the immigration agency patrolling dozens of American cities.

The tack that Trump and has administration have taken with their description of the woman shot in Minnesota is not going so well (even internally).

I bet you if Biden or even Bush Jr had tried to do something like this they would have been flayed alive. But the orange buffoon? Republicans just shrug and either fall in line or pretend "I don't know about it" 🙄

Vance, Noem and Trump were conclusive. Nothing to see here... Trump said she had ran him over.

Ongoing investigation? Thats Trump sad his cronies, they locked out MN officials

The Washington Post - Opinion - A president who treats Washington like his chew toy

10 Jan 2025

Trump’s Oval Office, stuffed to overflowing with gold bric-a-brac, might be beautiful to someone who is colorblind. Or to connoisseurs of high-end Gilded Age brothels. ...

Trump has the terrible strength peculiar to people who are incapable of embarrassment, and cannot fathom that they look ridiculous.

Denamrk came to the defense of America when America call article 5.
It literally shed blood and not an insignificant amount 18K troops, 43 deaths,
for its population of 6 Mil.

The only call on article 5 has been America!

One Republican Senitor is tired of 'Stupid' , but Americans will probably never hear him.

'Amateur hour is over!' | Republican Thom Tillis SAVAGE speech on Stephen Miller

Then there is the crazy assed idea that threatening a peaceful ally with invasion is part of ethos of Nobel Prize.

Putin's plan was to secure Ukraine's population and resources to then go after Europe.
So stage 2 can't start while the 3 days special military operation is still going.
Yep while Ukraine is still alive Eu is ok.

Tinkerisk: As far as I can judge the situation here as a pedestrian, it does indeed mean the end of NATO, as the Danish Prime Minister has already informed him in an official address.
If it did, also as a pedestrian poster, would that be bad? USA and Russia have veto powers so thats hardly an equal environment. It would be if Russia and USA were "normal" but they are not now.

I have no idea what you're talking about. Russia is not a NATO member. Russia does not have a veto power over NATO.

Interview with the Philadelphia sheriff who called ICE agents "fake, wannabe law enforcement":

Sheriff makes the point that no trained officer is going to take that position in front of a vehicle.

A shocking revelation today - cellphone video in the clip above was recorded by the ICE agent that shot Rene Good - at the same time. Gun in one hand phone recording with the other hand.

I'm not defending ICE agents, but sheriff training varies by locale, and is mostly inadequate.

In Philadelphia, the minimum education requirement to become a Philadelphia Deputy Sheriff is a high school diploma or GED equivalent. A college degree is not required.

Age minimum is 19.

Less than 3 months training.

The sheriff is elected every four years

I've said it many times before; if you're pulled over by a US sheriff, immediately text a relative before they come to the car, and start recording, even if audio only.

As Bilal explains in the video the Philly Sheriffs Dept is responsible for security of the courts and prisoner transport. The police dept is a different dept in Philly. In Philly the sheriffs training is longer than 90 days - 19 weeks at Penn State University:

https://www.pa.gov/agencies/pccd/programs-and-services/training/public-safety-training/sheriff-and-deputy-training

The elected sheriff Rochelle Bilal - The electors of black majority Philadelphia made a great choice there:

I'd be willing to bet the Philly sheriffs get constant civil rights reinforcement on that score.

Greenland's pro-independance 25% opposition party advocating direct talks with USA:

https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/greenland-should-hold-talks-with-us-without-denmark-opposition-leader-says-2026-01-08/

I can see that would be a good lever for independence, but really, trust the current presidency not to make a giant mess of the whole thing and a giant mess of your island seems like it would be a very bad move.

The ICE agent who shot the unarmed woman in Minneapolis has apparently gone into hiding:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/ice-agent-at-center-of-minneapolis-shooting-reportedly-in-hiding-as-federal-officers-swarm-home-pack-up-belongings/ar-AA1TXGNf

Guess he's not such a tough guy with a gun anymore? If he didn't do a single thing wrong, why does he need to go into hiding? 🤷‍♂️

Watched Trumps meeting with oil execs yesterday, not all of it. His "speech" was all about praising himself as usual. It then went to a few execs who also praised him. As usual. Placate the bear so you remain in the circle. It was all very positive, even though one said it was currently "uninvestible" Trump wanted deals same day, but he accepted it might just be in days

From what Ive read since, it was a total fail. The execs have to look after shareholders and the risk of stability is too great. Although Trump did say, you will have stability. Words, words and more words. It didnt wash

So we now have a a dictator removed, tick. The same illicit and harsh regime is not only still in power, it is being supported. The oil deal has failed.

Now what?
