New Zealand PM was invited for Trump's "Peace Board".

Forget it. Hard no. Big scam.

Trump wants a "donation" of US$1 billion for countries to stay on the board.

Gurezaemon:

Malcolm Nance breaks down how a US attack/invasion of Greenland would play out, with the follow-on consequences for NATO and the world. Potential expulsion of US troops from Europe, blocking of Canadian airspace to US overflight, and the breakdown of international trade.

Having spent most of his working life involved with military intelligence, he really knows his stuff, and how to break down a complex situation.

We Europeans know this very well, which is why it is so incredibly crazy that a year ago we thought it was just a passing whim of Prange of the Orange. Now we are considering deploying frigates, submarines and Eurofighters – for training purposes of all kinds.

That's exactly NZD 327.84 per kiwi. Surely that's worth this invitation to a luxurious castle in the air? 🤣

Davos.  Another Trump angry tariff fail that he has to own up to, but he wont due to ego issues, love to be a fly on that wall.

Nations are diversifying. USA may be the economic superpower, but Chine, while hit hard is exporting a lot, GDP up 5% which was on target. EU has twice the US population, they are not a minnow.

No country can manufacture or grow everything, plenty of scope to trade, friends with friends. Slowly but surely its happening. At some point, other countries will say, bring manufacturing back to the US, yes thats fine, go hard.

US attacking China and many other countries due to trade imbalances by those unfair countries. Thats false. A bit like drugs going to the US, yes a bad problem. Countries aren't actively exporting drugs, the US is actively importing them. Solve the latter, you solve the former. Trade will go the same way as other nations import/export amongst themselves. Canada and China, more imports of Chinese cars, I assume mainly or just EV's, one example of many. A new world order, not the one Trump envisioned

Greenland, EU/NATO, stick with it

Man, that guy is stupid. Every schoolchild here knows that there are no borders between EU countries. And if he wants to punish individual EU countries with a customs surcharge, we'll just export via an EU member that hasn't been hit with a punitive tariff since 1 February. It'll just say ‘Made in the EU’ instead of ‘Made in Germany’. The cash register doesn't care. 🤣

This president is completely out of his mind. Reminds me of Sudetenland, Austria and Hitler's Lebensrau.

Unbelievable, but true.

Kong Donald Fredsson den Uuddannede I. 😁

… how he was left behind by the Inuit somewhere in the nowhere, buried in the Greenlandic ice on his unhitched dog sled.

Cause of death: scuffle with a giant mountain were-rabbit (the biggest rabbit in the world - ever!)

[The ‘jewels’ are a kind donation from Disneyland, outfit sponsored by The Caribou & the foxes and by McDonald´s, hairstyle by Wash&Go, cosmetics by The White House. „Donations“ of US$1 billion or more are welcome at MagaOnICE.com]

RIP

I admire the Canadians for sticking it to Trump and his supporters.

Canadian tourism to the US is way down and some states / provinces with state controlled alcohol sales, as part of a general boycott of US products, have pulled US brands from the shelves.

Company behind Jack Daniel's says boycott is 'significant' as sales to Canada fall 62%

Yes, they started this when the tariff farce started a while back, media clip of them removing US stock

Good on them. Bit of a pain for all during this transition of re focussing on real trade relationships, but it will pay off

MAGA is too stupid to realise what's happening here but if it goes on much longer the changes will be irreversible. It's like turning an oil tanker ... once the global economies have the structural changes in progress to disentangle from the US they won't be going back for decades.

I'd really like to see us all working on the technology aspects: update or migrate away from the SWIFT network so that the US is no longer in control. Have the right regulations and local replacements ready to ensure local Visa & Mastercard processing continues at least temporarily until a switch-out can complete even if the US tries to push the big red button. Switch to Open Source replacements for all the Big Tech stuff in the back end, and put it 100% under local control - no US cloud companies for anything essential to the operation of the economy. Bring ARM back under European ownership and invest heavily in RISC-V development so there remains at least one source for high performance CPU IP outside US control. Ditch Windows, go all in on some flavour(s) of Linux.

It's a multi-decade project that will cost trillions. But there will be long term benefits for everyone. Except the US.
