In an astonishing article, the Russian government paper [Rossiyskaya Gazeta] is full of praise for Trump and critical of European leaders who oppose a US annexation of Greenland.

 

 

"Standing in the way of the US president's historic breakthrough is the stubbornness of Copenhagen and the mock solidarity of intransigent European countries, including so-called friends of America, Britain and France"  ...

 

"If Trump annexes Greenland by July 4 2026, when America celebrates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, he will go down in history as a figure who asserted the greatness of the United States" ...

 

"If, thanks to Trump, Greenland becomes part of America … for sure the American people will not forget such an achievement."

 



"Europe is at a total loss and, to be honest, it's a pleasure to watch this," gloated the Russian tabloid Moskovsky Komsomolets in one of its articles about Greenland.

Just listened to the BBC reading the Russian newspaper article at length. Wow. It is sentence after sentence of ‘If Trump takes Greenland it will be the most important thing that will happen to America since the Declaration of Independence. Everyone will remember Trump forever!’

 

If it wasn’t so serious the fact that it will work would be pitiful.

Mid terns are soon. I read recently that re districting may nullify most if that, but the polls are horrendous. 

 

I posted a few weeks ago, that what the idiot is doing is getting exponentially worse. Now its worse. Now tariffing friends as they dont agree over Greenland. Then speeches that he is the best President ever for blacks. (I hate that term) Cant recall the website but he cant get a grasp why many dont see him as that successful

 

The world should just leave him to it, in the background new trade relationships are happening, in the foreground mercosur is happening, surprisingly being signed off in a week or less. Its been in progress for literally decades.

 

Some Euro countries have issues with beef, but look at the big picture.

 

The fake news that trade imbalances are caused by these countries abusing the US, same for drugs. Do some countries send drugs to the US? Yes. Does the US import drugs? Hell yes. Look in the mirror and solve that. Chine exports to the US, is the same, China doesnt force its goods into the US, the US sucks them up as they cannot compete, yet Trump wants THAT manufacturing in the US. Fine by me, Im not a US citizen going to Best Buy or Home Depot

Speaking of polling, I've got a few go-to sites for this information these days (since the untimely demise of 538):

 

https://www.natesilver.net/p/trump-approval-ratings-nate-silver-bulletin >> this bloke used to run 538 until he sold it to ABC (who eventually shut it down). He then started up his own site using the formula he used before

 

https://www.realclearpolling.com/ >> run by RealClearPolitics. Nominally a conservative-leaning website but tends to be quite close to results

 

https://www.racetothewh.com/ >> a newer one that has a whole heap of graphs and polling available to pick from drop-down lists (has quite a few Google ads all over the page though)

 

Looking at all three, their job approval polling numbers for the orange buffoon are actually surprisingly close - approval hovers between 41-42%, disapproval in the 55% range.

 

For the midterms (since you mention it): I couldn't find a number for Nate Silver; RealClear has the Democrats ahead by 4.4%; RacetotheWH has Republicans holding onto the Senate with 51 seats, but the House is going to be a challenge; according to this site Democrats will get around 227 seats, Republicans 207.

 

If the last bit is accurate, I can hear the whining about "election fraud!" already 🙄

Just watched Trump's press conference for the one year anniversary. Or, to be precise, had it on in the background while I did other things. What a total self-lover ... starts by holding up a bunch of photos of people from Minnesota with captions under them - like old school WANTED posters. All very bad people, evil people. Goes on about how the Latinos love him and ICE is all Latinos. Gas is down to $1.50 a gallon while it was $5 a gallon under Biden, who was the worst president in history. Ford are running their factories 24/7 building cars now because of his tariffs, lots of people said it wouldn't work, but it's worked so well, nobody can believe how well it's worked, best strategy in history. More blathering about Jerome Powell ...

 

Absolute vacuous BS from start to finish. I am dumber for having had it on in the background.
