Agreed, ditto for James as well, but Trump is the worst at it.
quickymart:Stuff article Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin told AP in a text messages that person had a firearm with two magazines.
kingdragonfly:quickymart: Another day, another shooting in Minneapolis 😠 Again, (apparently) of a US citizen.
The ICE agents better pray they have body cam footage of the man lying prone on the sidewalk, being kicked, grabbed a police firearm, because otherwise it looks like a bunch of undertrained thugs beating up a man sprawled on a sidewalk.
Youtube ID YYY45yevMcoQA
They weren't wearing body cams apparently. Cynical me say thats interesting
kingdragonfly: In Minnesota the term “open carry” is used in law simply to distinguish how a firearm is carried.
It means is the gun visible on your person in public.
I'm familiar with guns, and I'm struggling to understand Minnesota gun law. The same Permit to Carry that lets someone carry a handgun concealed.
I have to assume he had a gun in his belt, which is completely legal. It would have been legal, and frankly more common, if he had a concealed holster.
The man being beaten "gun whipped" on the ground before being shot in Minneapolis was reported by local police as having a valid carry permit, which means he could legally be carrying a handgun on his belt or in a concealed holster in public.
If you ever find yourself in America, and you're (frankly stupidly) carrying a gun and need to approach an officer. Stop moving, keep your hands clearly visible, often chest-level or higher. Do not suddenly raise them. Use a calm voice and say something like: “Officer, I want to let you know I am legally carrying a firearm. It’s in my [clothes location]. How would you like me to proceed?”
Live Updates: Federal Agents Kill a 37-Year-Old Minneapolis Man: New York Times
...
Videos analyzed by The New York Times contradict the accounts of Homeland Security officials, who said that the man approached Border Patrol agents with a handgun and the intent to “massacre” them. Footage of the encounter shows the man was holding a phone in his hand, not a gun, when federal agents took him to the ground and shot him.
Federal officials posted images of a handgun they said the man was carrying. Chief Brian O’Hara of the Minneapolis police said the man who was killed, a 37-year-old American citizen with no criminal record, had a firearms permit. Open carry is legal in Minnesota.

Agree, from want Ive seen early afternoon NZ time, media says he held his hands up. And the legal gun was taken away, THEN he was shot. ICE pushed a woman away, Pretti assisted her, that got him into more strife. He has been to many protests, thats fine and legal. The word "brandish" has been used heavily, he bransdised a phone and its camera. Bears a resemblance to Renee Good. She was exercising her right to protest "Im not mad at you" She exited the scene, may or may not have brushed the ICE guys knee as she was leaving, so he shot her 3 times in the head. Not dissimilar.
quickymart:
If this is accurate, the fact that he was shot dead is a really bad look for ICE and DHS...but then again, given the way they're being run and their leadership at the moment, I doubt they give a crap anymore 😠
He is reported to be a kind man, fits with his job. No criminal charges, a handful of driving offences. Like most people. No WOF, REGO, red light, etc
The NY Times - Opinion - The Un-American President
24 Jan 2026
The American leader is meant to be a unifier, a strong and soothing presence in the world.
Trump is an anarchic toddler, constantly causing upheaval across the globe, transgressing and remaking everything in his helter-skelter image.
He has no interest in fireside chats; he wants to set fires.
He’s more about droit du seigneur than noblesse oblige. He feels entitled to whatever he wants, from Greenland to Canada to the Kennedy Center to a Nobel Prize he didn’t win.
Unlike previous presidents, he isn’t countering Russia; he’s catering to it. ...
The depth of his shallowness is infinite. ...
Trump has made America un-American.
Three more years of this ? 😟
Sideface
I need to get a bucket. Trump stated UK soldiers kept away from the front line in Afghanistan. Now he says they were the greatest warriors.
An ex FBI person who was there for 25 years, states that issue is that MN police were not between the protesting public and ICE officers. makes complete sense. But there is a political issue here. How would it go if Mayor Frey and Governor Waltz decreed that the local police will take care of business over ICE activities?

I saw this too but not sure if it's 100% correct however it's not good (if fully true):

and this other one is from Fox News so I'd take it with a grain of salt...but this reads like blackmail (again, confirmation pending):

Edit, The Bulwark outlines what happens, then how Trump and co managed to make it worse:
😠
quickymart:
Signature goes here.
Dictators like Trump like it when their operatives break the law, now they have every reason to fight tooth and nail and kill if required to keep him in power.
Trump can be assured of loyalty as they know what is coming for them if a Trump or equivalent is not in power.
Committing murder for Trump probably puts you on top of his loyalty list.
These desperate people would hang Mike Pence.
3 more years, oh and death is no problem as that would be J D Vance who is learning how far you can take things.
His mentor Peter Thiel is quite ok with dictators that look after their oligarchs.
gzt:quickymart:
Bondi's letter does not say that. The claim made in this image is bogus.
Phew, that's a good thing. I did say it was Fox News and to take it with a grain (or a sack) of salt...
Glad that one's wrong then - although with the orange buffoon I wouldn't put it past him!
