My farking god. There is another video of Alex Pretti's killing. Shows he is holding a phone, we know that. He helped a woman who was pushed forcefully to the ground by ICE. ICE pepper sprayed him. He was on the ground being hit by an ICE guy with a pepper can. "he's got a gun" so they removed it then shot him. Shot another 9 rounds.

Just watching Karoline Leavitt giving a presser on the Alex Pretti shooting.

A long rambling speech, based on its the Democrats fault and talking about illegal immigrants with a violent history being deported. I believe there is no issue with illegal violent immigrants being deported. On and on she went. When asked pertinent questions about these shootings, she washed all those away with its under investigation.

IMO local and Federal policing units are there to serve and protect the people. No one has issues with that. The issue here is that ICE are killing people, they are not serving the people they are acting like a no rules apply, brutal force. The evidence is there, by our "lying eyes" as some of them say. But no, lets praise ICE and the other Federal law enforcement, and let Karoilne and the rest of them bury their head in the sand. Whats happening is happening, about time to man up

Tom Honan, a less aggressive, is going to Minneapolis. From what Ive seem that's a calming influence, he is not a Noem. Why doesnt Noem go??? because she is doing what ICE does, escalate everything. Trump and Walz have talked, possibility that ICE will be reduced a little. That wont help. ICE have been told to be ascertive, dont back down, and so on. Unlike normal policing units who are trained to de escalate, thats the issue. Trump should tell ICE to do their job as its supposed to be done, then the people will have no issues. Locate violent illegals, arrest and deport, no issues there. They aren't doing that, they are a law into themselves, emboldened by Trump etc firing them up by diverting shootings to other causes.

Donald Trump has said Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents will leave Minneapolis, after clashes broke out following the shooting of a protester.

The US president did not give a timeline for the withdrawal of federal officers, but promised: “At some point, we will leave. We’ve done, they’ve done, a phenomenal job.”

https://www.stuff.co.nz/world-news/360929892/trump-says-ice-will-leave-minneapolis-clashes-break-out

IMO thats not the solution. Get ICE to stop being aggressive and tell them to locate and deport violent illegal immigrants (less than 10% of deportees are or have had violence charges)

Cops do their thing, CBP does their thing, ICE does their thing

This whole issue is 100% political, targeting states that are Democrat states. Let policing units, do their policing, and do the political stunts on TV

Must read for every American:

"The Rights and Duties of the Individual in relation to Government“ aka „Civil Disobedience“ - by Henry David Thoreau, 1849 🙂

Sorry that it's a book. 😁

Chris Madel running as a Republican for Minnesota Governor ends his candidacy with a statement against ICE:

“I cannot support the national Republicans’ stated retribution on the citizens of our state, “nor can I count myself a member of a party that would do so.”, “Driving while Hispanic is not a crime,” he said. “Neither is driving while Asian.”, “I have to look my daughters in the eye and tell them, ‘I believe I did what was right. And I am doing that today.”

The Guardian - Opinion - This 26 January [Australia Day], we should question Australia’s subservience to a different empire: Trump’s America

26 Jan 2026

Australian republicans have long sought to break the chains with Great Britain, as largely symbolic as they remain ...

And yet today as Australia stops to celebrate itself, more progressive citizens will be uncomfortably preoccupied with their country’s obsequiousness and ever-deeper indebtedness to another more powerful empire with its rapidly eroding democratic institutions, and its threat to global order and peace.

The US under [Trump] increasingly operates in a mist of White House untruths, with a mob mentality and in a moral vacuum. It functions with waning regard to international law. It has become impossible to predict internationally ...

You have to wonder, given the threatening Caligula-like ramblings emanating from the White House, what it would actually take for middle power Australia to ditch AUKUS, dispense with its little America cloak, and publicly countenance rethinking the alliance under the present US administration.

To declare my bias - I have dual Australian and UK citizenship, and have lived in NZ for 40 years.

Chris Madel.

Though it might just be financial reality, ROCE is absent if you have no chance to win.
Campaign money will go elsewhere to help GOP/Trump.

Now if he continues to very actively oppose rather than wait for wind to blow the other way?

Where was he last election, given Trump was predictable from his first term.
Which ended with Trumps good people beating those protecting congress within an inch of their lives, later deaths maybe linked to the bear sprays that included who knows what chemicals.
Hunting Mike Pence shouting 'Hang Mike Pence'.

Oh that's right helping Trump, Vance and co get into power.
So you were loving the GOP, Trumps GOP, and happy with a repeat?
Right up to now, so very late in the day.

Redemption requires a bit more when you were part of what created this.

I'm a bit tired of this 'who knew Trump and his besties would lie' .

Microsoft Gave FBI Keys To Unlock Encrypted Data, Exposing Major Privacy Flaw: Forbes

Early last year, the FBI served Microsoft with a search warrant, asking it to provide recovery keys to unlock encrypted data stored on three laptops.

The data was protected with BitLocker, software that’s automatically enabled on many modern Windows PCs to safeguard all the data on the computer’s hard drive.

Microsoft confirmed to Forbes that it does provide BitLocker recovery keys if it receives a valid legal order. “While key recovery offers convenience, it also carries a risk of unwanted access, so Microsoft believes customers are in the best position to decide... how to manage their keys,” said Microsoft spokesperson Charles Chamberlayne.

He said the company receives around 20 requests for BitLocker keys per year [OP the following is a lie because it goes against the default] and in many cases, the user has not stored their key in the cloud

Not sure whether this fits better here or in the Luxon thread but Winston thinks we need a ‘measured look’ at Trump’s invitation to the board of peace.

No. No we don’t.

Guam is a US military base. A request from the FBI suggests the issue is not related to serving members of the forces stationed there. Or maybe some random person called Trump a doofus.

Guam people are not keen on the bases' continuous expansion and environmental degradation:

That is precisely one of the main reasons why I want to tell people over and over again: convenience kills (this also applies to nutrition, exercise, intellectual laziness and political apathy). People, use your brains!

The orange buffoon is suddenly distancing himself from the second shooting in Minneapolis, and apparently getting ready to throw Kristi Noem (aka ICE Barbie) under the bus.
