Tinkerisk: As a black-and-white photograph, a few things become more clear:

Der ICE-Kommandant im Nazi-Look - Martialisch und effektheischend, so tritt ICE-Kommandant Gregory Bovino gern auf.

https://www.spiegel.de/ausland/gregory-bovino-auftritt-des-ice-kommandanten-weckt-erinnerungen-an-nazi-offiziere-a-588447c0-dfc8-4d7f-b5bf-457a400bff92

I think it's fair to say Der Spiegel was not impressed with Bovino's fascion choices. ICE is the biggest bunch of wannabes ever. Imo the agency will not recover from this and will probably be disbanded. There is just so much wrong with it and it can't be fixed.

Alex Pretti, a 37‑year‑old ICU nurse, was shot and killed by Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis while filming an ICE enforcement operation. Bystander video shows he did not brandish a weapon, contradicting DHS claims.

The nurse was holding a phone not a gun, and the nurse was pepper spayed, already wrestled to the ground, when police found his legally carried concealed gun.

As mentioned before, right-wing is not happy about shooting,

Here's a famous quote from the NRA from NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre on December 21, 2012, during a press conference following the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.

"The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun."

By that logic, if the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun, why was a legally armed nurse killed while doing nothing more than filming and helping others?

(I'm anti-gun anti-Second Amendment by the way)

Apparently while the events in Minnesota were taking place, the orange buffoon's wife was hosting a private showing of a new vanity project film about her, set to be released in the next few days (Saturday our time):

Interest is apparently quite low, with some movie theatres in the United Kingdom reporting 0 ticket sales. I don't think US sales are much better (at the moment, anyway). Posters are being defaced/torn down across the globe (one of the tamer examples here):

gzt: Guam is a US military base. A request from the FBI suggests the issue is not related to serving members of the forces stationed there. Or maybe some random person called Trump a doofus.

Guam is a territory. It has a military base but they have a civilian population too.

Neil Young gives everyone in Greenland a one year free subscription to his music archive and hopes it reduces the stress:

Young in the process of removing his music from Amazon and has encouraged everyone else to avoid Amazon store related to Bezos' support for Trump.

No matter what this woman has to say, it will not be socially significant. She has enough money for that, but unfortunately not enough intellect.

First MERCOSUR with South America, now the trade agreement with India both after near 20 years of negotiation (thanks for speeding up! 😁). He doesn't want to know anything about climate and the environment, science, scares off his allies with his hostile and clumsy behaviour, has people hunted down in his own country and soon has nothing left but constant threats. People like him were already shunned in Kindergarten – or beaten up. 🀣

Without wanting to sound threatening, NATO WITHOUT the US also has 510-550 own nuclear warheads lying around ... just mentioning it in passing. We just don't transport them around the world in expensive aircraft carriers and do not blackmail anyone with it.

81 children of Holocaust survivors have obtained their right to German citizenship in addition to American citizenship at the German Consulate in New York, so that they can flee to Germany in an emergency from Trump – the very country that owes them a deep debt due to its past. What a strange time this is ... and certainly not easy for them emotionally.

Not to mention that France can easily build more and several other European countries could start constructing their own in only a year or two once their governments gave it the green light. They are simple enough to make that almost every country that tried got them on the first test. The hardest part is the fuel and many countries with civil nuclear power programs have tons of plutonium sitting around with literally no other use.

EDIT: I class the UK as ‘other’ here since their warheads and missiles are all currently US designed and manufactured.

I don't really want to think about it because it's so strange and (until now) there has never been any need to. But apparently there is no other option.

But don't under estimate the EU's ability to shoot itself in the Foot,

The MERCOSUR deal is going nowhere fast,

"By a majority of just 10 votes, MEPs backed a resolution to seek an opinion from the Court of Justice of the EU on whether the texts of the EU-Mercosur agreement comply with the EU treaties. The motion was carried — to applause and cheers from its backers — with 334 votes in favor, 324 against, and 11 abstentions.

The Parliament won’t be able to vote on the deal itself until the court has issued its opinion — a process that typically takes between 18 to 24 months".
https://www.politico.eu/article/eu-mercosur-trade-deal-stalled-as-meps-send-it-for-judicial-review/

The India FTA is yet to be  seen by MEPs either, so may suffer a similar fate,

Just because the Commission (The Bureaucrats) sign something doesn't make it so,

They've managed to wrestle trade deal authority out of the hands of member state parliaments after the Canada-FTA  debacle, but there are plenty of protectionist MEPs  in the EU Parliament who will want to kill this....

The first most important and necessary steps have been taken, and we are relying firmly on Trump for everything else. This fellow must be good for something positive. πŸ˜πŸ˜‰

I didn't know where to post this, but this forum felt appropriate.

The Demented Don seems more likely to kill us all than anyone else.

Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists 2026 Doomsday Clock Statement - It is now 85 seconds to midnight

On January 27, 2026, the Doomsday Clock was set at 85 seconds to midnight, the closest the Clock has ever been to midnight in its history.

The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists’ Science and Security Board, which sets the Clock, called for urgent action to limit nuclear arsenals, create international guidelines on the use of AI, and form multilateral agreements to address global biological threats.

The Doomsday Clock was first created in 1947 during the Cold War, when the United States and the Soviet Union were heading into a nuclear arms race.
