Handsomedan:

Not to stray too far off topic, but the amount of marketing for this (I assume) tripe is mindblowing.

from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melania_(film):

The marketing budget was reported to be $35 million, far higher than marketing for other documentaries, but the production has denied this figure. RGB had a marketing budget of $3 million. From December 22, 2025 to January 23, 2026, Amazon spent $3.5 million on national linear TV ads.

Marie Antoinette also said that they should just eat cake. However, that didn't end so well for her either. 😁

Murky waters as Democrats consider a shutdown to impact ICE operations:

Looks to me like they're going to give Trump some more road while they think about it.

Problem is that shutdowns do impact a swathe of Americans.
Bigger problem is Americans are a bit blind on big picture stuff. Ok understatement but yeh.

So Republicans can, especially with help of big social media companies, and the monolith Fox News.
Just paint it however they want, and enough never think, is that really it?

An electorate that put Trump the wreaker in a second time.
Trump probably sees a shutdown as great for him.

No one talking about his best friend and grabby partner in 'crime?' now.

The lack of long term memory will have them forgetting.
Trump supported the GOP shut down of Government 3 times !
Including, and I'm sure he and GOP are proud, longest shutdown in history.
Trump spent his exile pushing GOP to do shutdowns, Biden did avoid much to Trumps anger.

Canadians have it right.
America is lost and just flushing themselves, next stop poo corner.  No need to join them.

I wondered how shutdowns would go if all the politicians (even including the president) had their pay stopped instead of all the federal workers.

My God, I bet both major parties would be literally falling over themselves to come to some sort of agreement.

Was the Melania trailer meant to be funny? I laughed. Gives off a very weird vibe.

I suspect that the pay for the job is not significant for most of them. They have to be wealthy to get elected and probably the positions give them opportunities to make more money. Just flying Trump to golf costs far more than his salary.

It's not going to be screened in South Africa. Initial ticket sales/interest looks to be quite low.

Trump hangs new photo in the Whitehouse apparently between the West Wing and the residence. The perfect place to see it on your way to work every day:

9 News Australia mocking Melania Trump's movie.

Also this is an actual scene that really is in the trailer, that's getting mocked:

Melania Trump: “Hi, Mr. President, congratulations.”
Donald Trump (voice on phone): “Did you watch it?”
Melania Trump: “I did not, yeah, I will see it on the news.”

Melania Trump's $57 million documentary sells one pre-sale Australian ticket
