Steve Bannon promoted the Qanon conspiracies while he was giving advice to the convicted Jeffery Epstein. I'm surprised there are few headlines about that.

Bannon is not an official member of the Trump administration as I understand it he's still waiting for the call.

Bannon is expecting a pardon for refusing to testify about the Jan 6 events or something like that.

The Gordie Howe International Bridge connecting Detroit to Windsor, Ontario is expected to open early this year.

The NY Times - Trump Threatens to Block Opening of New Bridge to Canada

09 Feb 2026

President Trump threatened on Monday to block the opening of a new bridge between the United States and Canada if Canadian officials did not address a long and growing list of grievances, escalating diplomatic tensions between the two countries.

Amid a trade war and a deepening rift between the United States and its northern neighbor, Mr. Trump said that he would “not allow” the opening of the Gordie Howe International Bridge, scheduled to open early this year for traffic between Detroit and Windsor, Ontario, “until the United States is fully compensated for everything we have given them, and also, importantly, Canada treats the United States with the Fairness and Respect that we deserve.”

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce, the nation’s largest business lobbying group, denounced the president’s threat in a statement, writing that “whether this proves real or simply threatened to keep uncertainty high - blocking or barricading bridges is a self-defeating move.”

Another pathetic Trumpie Tantrum   😡

EDIT   The Gordie Howe Bridge is already jointly owned by both Canada and the United States. Canada shouldered the entire $5.7 billion construction cost, and will recoup its costs through toll fees.

Trump's tirade was roundly mocked on social media, with elected officials, journalists and others all picking apart the president's post.

[Hobbit accent] Yes, we've had pardons, but what about second pardons?

A bridge to nowhere.

Trump keeps on using words like 'Fairness and Respect' that he does not know the meaning of. :-)

Making sure that Americans pay more for all the materials that 'have' to come from Canada.
That Canada is even more incentivised to seek out other long term trading relationships.
Tourism, as USA cements itself as a hostile destination.

Hope we have some serious trade missions sent that way.

On Bannon, he has also been involved in promoting same in Europe as well. A global pest.

Another top Starmer assistant steps down - apparently to allow the prime minister to build a new communications team. More likely jumping the ship before it goes down..

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2026/feb/09/keir-starmer-director-of-communications-tim-allan-step-down

Imo Starmer's rolling or resignation is inevitable. The cabinet expressing confidence is just buying time while they figure out a successor.

I would love it if Steve Bannon starts a party. Every vote for him is a lost vote for Republicans.

As a leader, he has all the charisma of a school’s ancient wet mop and bucket.

Some people have fallen in UK.

In USA despite being caught out in lies no one steps down, and its continuing denial and deflection and look over there.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick for one outrageously lied about a short visit to his neighbor Epstein once, and only once.
He had been so disgusted by the disgraced financier he had cut ties with him in 2005.

Then revealed he visited Epstein’s Caribbean island in 2012, ostensibly taking his children and friend and their children and nannies as they 'happened' to be passing Epstein Island on a boat at lunchtime.

Lutnick’s island admission: The latest Epstein revelations
https://www.msn.com/en-nz/politics/government/lutnick-s-island-admission-the-latest-epstein-revelations/ar-AA1W58Sl

To Billionaires a 'boat' may come with a chef and well stocked fine refreshments, not like we forgot the sandwiches emergency?

You bring children, plus other people's children to shield you from this disgusting man!?

Likely more than just lunch, money, dirty deals, tax evasion, insider tidbits, were surely the reason a Billionaire goes out of his way.
The financial records that government has and the countless blacked out pages surely there is more.
After that explanation forced under oath, its just back to normal Trumpy business.

Dirty deals are not always done dirt cheap, cost may be high but ROI , that lovely ROI , as long as returns are high.

ezbee: Some people have fallen in UK. In USA despite being caught out in lies no one steps down, and its continuing denial and deflection and look over there.

There is a good reason for that. In the UK like NZ the cabinet is composed entirely of democratically elected people. The prime minister is elected by parliament and must have a majority in parliament.

In USA the president usually appoints many random people to cabinet who were never elected and are not democratically accountable to anyone. Howard Lutnick is a typical example. During the creation of the constitution there were many contributors to the discussion who more or less wanted an elected monarchy, and for a life term. It shows.

The UK long ago pushed the royals out of government. Ironically that process was mostly completed by the time of George III. Royals since then tried and mostly failed to exert power over parliament before giving up the idea completely. In contrast, the compromises made during the creation of the American constitution meant Americans replaced George III with a slightly more accountable royal king, born in the USA.
