There once was a man named Donald Trump, quite old,
Whose agenda, the polls said, was cold.
When the Court said “No way!”
He fumed at them all in dismay,
'cause tariffs need Congress, we’re told.

Apparently that was the longest address ever. I can't stand listening to the orange buffoon's rambling for more than 5 seconds, so can someone please suggest a TL:DR summary I could have a look at, rather than having to sit through the entire thing?

edit: never mind, I found one 🙂

Trump claimed gas prices are "now below $2.30 a gallon in most states, and in some places, $1.99 a gallon". But no state had an average gas price on Tuesday below $2.37 per gallon, according to AAA

that sounds a lot like NZ govt and the price of cheese

Trump claimed workers incomes are soaring,
And said that US economy’s roaring,
But the numbers don’t lie
Growth was weaker, not high,
Trailing Biden’s last year. Trump's lying!

There was something about Democracy and Vigilance that America, and other places forgot.

You put a selfish liar and criminal that is power hungry, grandiose and kleptocratic, things you know already in charge.
You elect him to save dogs and cats from being eaten. They promise to punish the 'other'.

His lies about supporting Healthcare.
Mr Spendy is gilding, building monuments, giving himself tax breaks, the Military an extra $500B it does not know what to do with.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/trump-officials-struggle-to-spend-500-billion-more-the-military-asked-for/ar-AA1WO5Qw

In the country of Milk and Cheese we don't talk about the price of Cheese.

Apparently, it costs less to ship to the other side of the world, then distribute though multiple layers across nations.
The degree of negative gearing waiting for payment, dealing with shifting currencies and tariffs.
There is hedging, but that's not free. Plus, other uncertainties.

Than to just ship it that last Km to my supermarket.

UK grandmother with valid visa detained in usual bad ICE conditions for six weeks during that time finds ICE agents are paid bonuses for detentions:

Guardian: It was during these conversations that Karen was told repeatedly that ICE agents are paid a bonus every time they detain someone. “I was told this by multiple sources,” she says. “There is all the incentive in the world to find a reason – any reason – not to let someone go.”

ICE denies it. Not convincing at all. Completely unnecessary detention. It does make the self-deportation stats look good I'm sure.

Trump's lying!

You can tell Trump is lying because his lips are moving. I don't know which is truly sadder; that Trump probably believes the crap that comes out of his mouth on a daily basis, or that a man with the character listed in the title of this thread was able to convince a majority of the American electorate that he was the right person for the job.

The Guardian has an interesting article today:
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/feb/26/trump-epstein-files-fbi

Three memos that describe four interviews conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 2019 contain explicit but unsubstantiated claims that Donald Trump sexually abused a woman when she was a minor in the early 1980s with the assistance of Jeffrey Epstein, according to a Guardian review of those documents.

The Department of Justice did not release those records when it uploaded millions of pages of files related to Epstein beginning in December. The existence of the missing documents was first reported by independent journalist Roger Sollenberger and subsequently confirmed by NPR, causing outrage in Washington and sparking an investigation from congressional Democrats.

Hillary Clinton questioned over her connections to Epstein, but of course the orange buffoon isn't asked a single question at all, despite appearing in the files many thousands of times 🤷‍♂️

https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/world/588166/hillary-clinton-tells-congressional-panel-she-has-no-information-on-epstein

Clinton said that late into the procedures "it got quite unusual because I started being asked about UFOs and a series of questions about Pizzagate, one of the most vile bogus conspiracy theories."

What the hell is this 🤔

Should we expect Warner Bros Discovery to go full MAGA soon?

"Netflix has walked away from its planned takeover of Warner Bros Discovery, declining to raise its offer for the media conglomerate’s storied Hollywood studios and streaming business after it determined a sweetened rival offer from Paramount Skydance to be “superior”.

A department under Trump is called the "The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI)"

It provides an unclassified summary of broad national security threats, based on classified analysis from across the U.S. Intelligence Community for Congress, called the "Annual threat assessment of the U.S. intelligence community "

"We continue to assess Iran is not building a nuclear weapon and that Khamenei has not reauthorized the nuclear weapons program he suspended in 2003, though pressure has probably built on him to do so. In the past year, there has been an erosion of a decades-long taboo on discussing nuclear weapons in public that has emboldened nuclear weapons advocates within Iran’s decision making apparatus. Khamenei remains the final decisionmaker over Iran’s nuclear program, to include any decision to develop nuclear weapons. "

Trump’s repeated claims of “total obliteration” are obviously exaggerated

Trump being Trump ordered "Operation Midnight Hammer" (does not involve porn star Stormy Daniels)

Here's how General Caine described it: “Throughout the mission, we retained the element of surprise. In total, U.S. forces employed approximately 75 precision guided weapons during this operation. This included. . . fourteen 30,000-pound GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators, marking the first ever operational use of this weapon.”

Quote from Trump: “Our objective was the destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world’s number one state sponsor of terror.”

“Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated.”

He called the strikes “a spectacular military success,” and urged Iran’s leaders to make peace.

“There will be either peace, or there will be tragedy for Iran.”

“Remember, there are many targets left. . . .But if peace does not come quickly, we will go after those other targets with precision, speed, and skill. Most of them can be taken out in a matter of minutes.”

“Thanks to President Trump’s bold and visionary leadership and his commitment to peace through strength, Iran’s nuclear ambitions have been obliterated,” Security of War Hegseth said.

By June 24, Trump followed Hegseth’s lead. “It was my great honor to Destroy All Nuclear facilities & capability, and then, STOP THE WAR!”

Trump has continued to say the nuclear program was obliterated. A sampling:
  • “It knocked out their entire potential nuclear capacity.” (July 16)
  • “It’s been obliterated.” (July 31)
  • “We obliterated … the future nuclear capability of Iran.” (August 18)
  • “But I also obliterated Iran’s nuclear hopes, by totally annihilating their enriched uranium.” (September 20)
  • “Well, they don’t have a nuclear program. It was obliterated.” (October 13)
  • “… completely obliterated Iran’s nuclear capability.” (November 11)
  • “It was called Iran and its nuclear capability, and we obliterated that very quickly and strongly and powerfully.” (November 19)
  • “We obliterated their nuclear capability.” (December 11)
  • “We knocked out the Iran nuclear threat, and it was obliterated.” (January 8)
  • “… obliterated Iran’s nuclear enrichment capability.” (January 20)
  • “… achieving total obliteration of the Iran nuclear potential capability — totally obliterated.” (February 13)
Here we go again

From last week's State of the union speech:

“We wiped [Iran’s nuclear program] out… and they want to start all over again.”
...
“We are in negotiations with them… but we haven’t heard those secret words: ‘We will never have a nuclear weapon.’”
...
“My preference is to solve this problem through diplomacy… but one thing is certain: I will never allow the world’s number one sponsor of terror… to have a nuclear weapon.”
...
“They were warned to make no future attempts… yet they continue… pursuing their sinister ambitions.”
