gzt:  Donald Trump's interior decorating taste matches the Palace of Versailles last renovated by Louis XIII and the seat of the French government until the French revolution toppled the monarchy.

It matches the last gasp of a failed state. ...

Trump likes records. I wonder if he will go down in history as the President with the most impeachments and assassination attempts?

Hunter Biden has never held any U.S. government contracts while Joe Biden has been president.

The 2 million dollar deals are private business arrangements in Ukraine, mostly from the time Joe Biden was vice president, not president. They were not U.S. government contracts.

Congressional committees, federal prosecutors, and various oversight bodies have spent years looking into Hunter Biden’s business activities. All four are led by House Republicans, with related activity spread across three house committees, and have been going for years.

Despite the length and number of investigations, none have produced evidence that Joe Biden awarded Hunter Biden government contracts

Lastly Hunter Biden never held an event where he bragged about his private business dealings in Ukraine.

Now Eric Trump. Apparently he overcame his lack of STEM education to become a highly paid robot expert. His college education is in finance, management, and psychology.

Eric Trump publicly promoted the contract on Fox Business

Eric Trump Touts $24 Million Pentagon Contract Awarded to His Robotics Company: Democracy now

President Trump’s son Eric Trump is touting a $24 million Pentagon contract awarded to the robotics firm Foundation Future Industries, where he serves as chief strategy adviser. The contract will fund testing of its “Phantom” humanoid robots for future military applications. Here’s Eric Trump speaking on Fox Business about the deal.

Eric Trump: “You know, I got involved with crypto in a very big way because we had to win that digital revolution. We have to win robotics in the United States of America.”

Democratic lawmakers have blasted the deal as a clear example of nepotism and corruption. Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren wrote, “Is the Pentagon just a cash machine for Trump’s kids now? This looks like corruption in plain sight.”

@19:47 CBS 60 minutes directly confronts Trump with Epstein allegations contained in gunman's 'goodbye' note:

Throughout the interview Trump tries to develop a new conspiracy theory called "southern law" which he says paid for bad people to protest for Trump like Charlottesville and some other unspecified bad people.

Apparently the U.S Justice Dept last week indicted the respected Southern Poverty Law Center on claims that the organisation secretly funded right wing groups. The SPLC says it paid informants in those groups to gain information that saved lives:

Trump is claiming that the civil rights organization is the reason he lost the 2020 election.

When Trump is referring the Southern law he is referring to the Southern Poverty Law Centre (SPLC)”

His conspiracy theory is perverse. As perverse as the FBI treatment of Epstein's victims.

SPLC lawsuits in the 1980s to 2000s bankrupted several Klan and neo‑Nazi organizations
  • A 1987 judgment that financially destroyed the United Klans of America

  • A 2008 case that bankrupted the Imperial Klans of America
Trump: What did security tell you about what the reason you have people like that is you have people doing No Kings [protest again Trump as an authoritarian]

I'm not a king. What I am? If I was a king, I wouldn't be dealing with you. Uh no, I'm not a king.

I I get it. I don't laugh. I don't I see these no kings which are funded just like the Southern Law [Poverty Centre] was funded.

You saw all that Southern Law is financing the [white extremist] KKK and lots of other radical terrible groups. And then they go out and they say, "Oh, we've got to stop the KKK." And yet they give him hundreds of thousands and even millions of dollars.

It's a total scam run by the Democrats.

As usual with any good lie, there's a microscopic kernel of truth, He is correct the SPLC did secretly pay informants inside extremist groups, about $300,000/year. It's a dangerous job, with a violent death for discovered informants likely.

Here's a few examples of many not given reported by the SLPC.

David Duke (former KKK leader) repeatedly praised Trump saying Trump was “speaking for white people.” Duke thought Trump’s immigration positions aligned with white nationalist goals. Publicly David Duke encouraged his followers to support Trump.

Andrew Anglin is founder of the Daily Stormer, a Neo-Nazis group. The SPLC documented that Anglin said “the only candidate who represents our interests.” Anglin urged neo‑Nazi readers to “vote for Trump” and celebrated Trump’s rhetoric on immigration and Muslims. He repeatedly framed Trump's victories as symbolic victory for white nationalism.

Richard Spencer, another white nationalist figure, describing Trump as an “alt‑right hero”, aligned with white identity politics, and Trump’s rise was “the first step toward a new political order.”

You'll remember the Charlottesville 2017 protest where a white supremacist drove his car into a crowd of counter‑protesters, killing one and injuring dozens of others. Trump said “You had some very fine people on both sides.”

I guess he wasn't referring to the SPLC, who were aligned with the litterally down-trodded people.

My conspiracy theory is he is angry that the SPLC published private conversation within the white nationalists and neo-Nazis. He's upset the quiet part was said out loud, politically damaging him.

The SPLC’s purpose in publishing these summaries was to document extremist reactions. They were tracking how white nationalist groups responded to mainstream politics.

It's not their fault Trump is popular with white nationalist groups and neo-Nazis.

You'll remember this old Hollywood Access live microphone moment

Trump described moving on a married woman, saying "I moved on her… I did try and f--- her," boasting "I just kiss. I don’t even wait," and asserting that "when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the pussy"

Back to today's interview

Reporter: The so-called manifesto is a stunning thing to read, Mr. President. He appears to reference a motive in it. He writes this quote. Administration officials, they are targets. And he also wrote this.

"I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes." What's your reaction?

Trump: Well, I was waiting for you to read that because I knew you would because you're horrible people. Horrible people. Yeah, he did write that.

Uh I'm I'm not a rapist. I didn't rape anybody.

Uh, oh, you think he was referring to me? Excuse me. I'm not a pedophile.

You read that crap from some sick person. Uh, I got associated with all stuff that has nothing to do with me. I was totally exonerated.

Your friends on the other side of the plate are the ones that were involved with, let's say, Epstein or other things.

But I said to myself, you know, I'll do this interview and they'll probably I read the manifesto.

You know, he's a sick person, but you should be ashamed of yourself reading that because I'm not any of those things

Reporter: Mr. President. I was never ...

Trump: Excuse me. Excuse me. You shouldn't be reading that on 60 Minutes. You're a disgrace.

Bah, gets on the back foot. Should have been 'Well, Mr. President you have been adjudicated to have committed sexual assault and convicted of 34 felonies. Perhaps that has something to do with it?'

(related to the below post):

One important difference (from my observations): given the political polarisation in the US now (remember, to the MAGA crowd Trump can do absolutely nothing wrong - and in Nixon's case all the Republican senators turned against him), I don't see this having much impact to Trump's base support - even though it should 😠

Trump today: "I'm not a rapist. I didn't rape anybody."

This is the only documented instance of Trump explicitly saying “I am not a rapist”

In the days that followed Richard Nixon declaring “I am not a crook!”, public skepticism intensified, media scrutiny sharpened, and the Watergate investigation accelerated rather than eased.

"I am not a crook!" was meant to reassure the public.

Instead, it became a symbol of defensiveness and loss of credibility.

President Nixon declares "I am not a crook!"

The conspiracy theories are multiplying like wildfire. Trump seems to have united all the conspiracy theorists of the world - right, left and center.

You're not wrong there: https://www.stuff.co.nz/world-news/360970990/staged-shooting-even-trumps-supporters-are-questioning-his-assassination-attempt

Authorities have stated they believe Allen acted alone and left a “manifesto” in which he clearly stated he wanted to target officials in the Trump administration. But according to a report by The New York Times, the term “staged” appeared in more than 300,000 posts on X by noon on Sunday.

On Bluesky, the social media network with a more Left-wing user base, many posts simply stated “staged”. Several prominent accounts reshared theories – without evidence – that were sceptical of the official version of events.

The conspiracy theorists have also seized on various pieces of footage and supposed incongruities from Saturday evening, including Trump’s unusual presence at the event and the weakened security measures, to bolster their claims. Speaking on George Galloway’s Mother of All Talk Shows, former CIA agent and blogger, Larry Johnson, noted that it was JD Vance, the vice-president, rather than Trump, who was the first person the Secret Service removed from the stage, against protocol.

“Everybody else is ducking behind tables, Trump is sitting there looking calmly around, like, did he know this was going to happen? Was this staged? I believe it was staged.”

Parody.

King Charles III visits the US Whitehouse. In a private moment,

King: "At last, it is but the two of us, untroubled by the attentions of the press.

I wished to ask you about your recent declaration: ‘I’m not a rapist, I didn’t rape anybody.’

The entire matter has, most unfortunately, become entangled with my own… Andrew difficulties, formerly known as 'Prince'. Ha ha, a bit of word play there..

People now speak of your affairs and his in the same breath, and it has created no small amount of embarrassment within the household

If I may, there is another subject I should like to address. Good show on Jeffrey [does imitation of man hanging himself with a rope, with tongue sticking out] 'Ack! Ack!' I say."

I see the assailant has been charged with attempting to assassinate the president. The goodbye apology manifesto letter thing talks about targeting administration officials but does not mention the president specifically. It does mention paedophile rapists so they may just be making the assumption or have additional evidence.
