So apparently Trump knows the bible better than the pope, because of course he does.

My reading of Romans 13 is that it was written in the time of ancient Rome, and back then it was not a democracy, and open rebellion was not an viable option. You were more likely to become entertaining cat food.

In the middle ages in Europe, the crowned heads of Europe all came under the Pope in Rome, until they didn't, for example Henry VIII decided to opt out of that arrangement.

In the US it is "we the people" that elect the government, not any supernatural being.

I expect that Trump just thinks that bars in Rome cater for bigger groups of diners that in Corinth.

Paul was once a Pharisee so his view is a bit coloured by that experience, I guess.

Jesus openly defied the Jewish authorities when it was clear they were not acting faithfully. He healed the sick on a Sabbath, hung out with the ritually unclean and despised, and overturned the tables of the vendors in the temple court with a whip. Clearly there's a bit of a carve-out that Romans 13 doesn't address, which is that you don't owe the authorities your loyalty when they themselves are breaking the law. In fact, by example, it is probably more your duty to rebel against the unjust and the lawbreakers, when they set themselves up in authority.

AlterNet - Trump Will Have an ‘Election Integrity Army’ at Every Polling Place

11 May 2026

The president wants you to know the 2026 midterms will be free and fair. He is building an army to make sure of it.

On Sunday, posting from Truth Social, Donald Trump announced that Republicans would deploy an “Election Integrity Army” in every single state for the 2026 midterms. Much bigger than 2024, he promised.

He did not say who would be in it. He did not say how large it would be. He did not say what it would do when it got to the polling locations. These details were apparently beside the point.

In 2024, the Republican National Committee recruited thousands of volunteers to serve as poll watchers across the country. They were trained to challenge voter eligibility, observe ballot counting, and report irregularities.

That operation, by Trump’s own description, is now the baseline.

Trump also said in February that he will only accept the midterm results if he feels they were honest. ...

The midterms are six months away. The army is already being built. The concession speech is not being written.

With Mango Muscolini visit China and audience with Xie this week.
Trump could get the amount of surveillance technology needed to further his voting monitoring from Xie.
Plantier can crunch and filter all the data, but for volume of hardware, you need China.

Cheezels Ceausescu just bend the knee quietly behind closed doors.
He does this for Putin, now Putin is a dependent of China.
Moscow having long since stopped being 'big brother' who could laud over Xie.
Time for Orange Calamity to kiss the ring?

US Techbos are exploding US borrowing and don't care who is ultimate boss as long as they can finance their empires.
Fake it until you make it, buy the dip.

I wonder how much "Racial Profiling" will be carried out ⁉️

It's only "fair" when he wins, otherwise a loss (somehow) means the election was "stolen" 🙄

AlterNet - Judges deliver massive blow to Trump’s 'frivolous' suit against Comey, Democrats

12 May 2026

President Donald Trump has lost his appeal of a personal lawsuit he launched against former Secretary Hillary Clinton, former FBI Director James Comey, the Democratic National Committee, the law firm Perkins Coie, LLC and others he blames for the Russia investigation.

Politico reported on Tuesday that the 11th Circuit declined to rehear Trump's case, leaving his only option an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Trump and lawyer Alina Habba in 2023 were sanctioned $1 million for the "frivolous" lawsuit. ...

At the time, U.S. District Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks wrote : "Here, we are confronted with a lawsuit that should never have been filed, which was completely frivolous, both factually and legally, and which was brought in bad faith for an improper purpose."

Legal update on New Zealander Everlee Wihongi detained by ICE in L.A:

https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/world/595003/everlee-wihongi-transferred-to-state-with-tougher-immigration-rules-lawyer-says

ICE has moved Wihongi from L.A to Arizona because state law in Arizona is more likely to result in deportation. This has made things even more difficult for contact with her lawyer. Her lawyer says her previous unrelated 10 year old conviction on a marijuana charge should be overlooked because that lawyer provided incorrect legal advice and has since been struck off for similar issues. Lawyer says that Peters' claims that Wihongi did not declare her conviction are incorrect.

https://abcnews.com/Politics/trump-americans-financial-situation-iran-negotiations/story?id=132891356

ABC News White House Correspondent Karen Travers pressed Trump to clarify whether he was considering the financial impact of the war on Americans. He doubled down.

"The most important thing, by far, is Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon," Trump said.

"What about the pressure on Americans and prices, right now?" ABC's Travers asked.

"Every American understands," Trump said.

Sounds like he's taken a page out of Mr-I'm-wealthy-and-sorted(s) playbook 🙄

AlterNet - Trump Floats Making Venezuela the 51st State

13 May 2026

Fox News co-anchor and White House correspondent John Roberts revealed that Trump told him that he is “seriously considering a move to make Venezuela the 51st state.”

Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, responded by saying her country has no plans to join the U.S. …

The main draw for Trump appears to be Venezuela’s oil reserves, which he estimates at around $40 trillion.

This is the entire foreign policy theory of the second Trump administration expressed in one sentence.

They so racist, they can't even make Puerto Rico a state. I guess the oil could make them reconsider, then start sending Venezuelans to other countries, because they were "not US-born" but living in US soil...

The NY Times - A revealing Trump remark points to Republicans’ midterm challenges

13 May 2026

President Trump has never been a fuzzy, feel-your-pain kind of politician.

That came through in an especially striking way yesterday, when he answered a question about whether he was motivated by the financial situation of Americans to make a deal to end the war with Iran.

Not even a little bit,” he replied. “I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation. I don’t think about anybody. I think about one thing: We cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon. That’s all.”

It was a response that flouted fundamental rules of American politics - that voters are motivated above all by economic concerns, that they want to support politicians who “care about people like me” - and it was a risky one, given Trump’s dire political standing …
