I wonder if Peters is going to do what Netanyahu did with the last Israeli government?

He was in coalition with the main opposition party and he shared the Prime Minister's position with the opposition leader with each one doing half the term.

Except he went first and when his time was up withdrew support from the coalition so it collapsed.

The other guy never got his go.

So maybe a windfall, of redundancy and re-employment if you have not already lined at a job elsewhere.

Though main issue is how it effects students. Hopefully not, we are short enough on trades etc as it is.

Back in 2017 David Seymour was all for RIA.

New Zealand condemns malicious cyber activity | Beehive.govt.nz

New Zealand has joined the UK and other partners in condemning malicious cyber activity conducted by the Russian Government, Minister Responsible for the Government Communications Security Bureau Judith Collins says.

The statement follows the UK’s attribution today of malicious cyber activity impacting its domestic democratic institutions and processes, as well as civil society organisations, to Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB).

“New Zealand stands with the UK in calling out this behaviour,” Judith Collins says.

“New Zealand does not tolerate attempts to undermine the integrity of democratic institutions through cyber or any other means. NGOs and civil society organisations also play an important role in enabling social inclusion in our democracies, and any attempt to interfere with their ability to do that is unacceptable.

I hope the new government have reinforced the security of infrastructure before sending this out.

The Government has begun the process of disestablishing Te Pūkenga as part of its 100-day plan, Minister for Tertiary Education and Skills Penny Simmonds says.

“I have started putting that plan into action and have met with the chair and chief Executive of Te Pūkenga to advise them of my approach. I have also issued a new letter of expectation to the council this week.

“The council of Te Pūkenga has been asked to cease any activities that are inconsistent with disestablishment. This includes recruitment and staff restructuring activity, and other actions that will make it difficult to re-establish former ITPs as institutions.

“The management of Te Pūkenga will be expected to focus on ensuring students, employers and staff are well supported through this next phase. Students will be able to continue their courses as normal.

“I have asked my officials for advice on the programme of work required to support the Government’s new agenda, including the legislative timeline.

“Key parts of that advice will include ensuring financial stability now, and in the future, and restoring regional decision making for local institutions to ensure they can better respond to the education needs of their communities.

“I will also be asking for advice on what other changes to the vocational sector might be needed to support and complement the disestablishment of Te Pūkenga.”

Luxon was asked about the vandalism of a Treaty of Waitangi exhibition at Te Papa.

"I'm incredibly proud of the Treaty of Waitangi and the origins that it's formed and forming, I think over the last 180 years, you know, when I think about you know what other countries have as their founding documents and support for their countries, and we should be incredibly proud about the treaty. Of course, over the last 180 years, we've been wrestling with it to understand what was meant, who signed it, why they signed it and what their intention is behind that," he said.

He said he was aware of a complaint being lodged with the Waitangi Tribunal about the threat of his policies on Te Reo Māori.

He said people should celebrate the language, which is one he is trying to learn.

Yeah. Look. It's hardly unusual that people and politicians skirt round questions. But its becoming an artform.

I'm waiting for details on how inflation etc will be fixed, still waiting. Do I expect a magic formula? No. Do I expect a level of detail of steps that will fix inflation? Yes. Not campaign slogans that he has memorised

He can't seem to give a straight answer to anything. He did that all through the formation. He can't even say he isn't prepared to say anything. It is all just empty waffle. I guess that is how one runs an airline, at least in New Zealand.
