JaseNZ:

My grip is quite fine thank you, I could care less what other people think they have handled this thing bad from the beginning.

Tail waging the dog.

Would you mind if I set a protest up on your lawn for the next 7 days and when you called the police they just said no worries we will just stand back and see what happens.

Its not.

Two options.

1. Tear gas, batons, tasers. Those options are WELL in excess of the protestors actions.

2. Try to manage it, based on actions versus response. If you kicked a guy in the shins at a bar as he piseed you off, what do you want,? Arrest and 3 years behind bars?? The reality is if the Police were called they would calm the situation down. Its called Common Sense

Yes some of the protesters arguing their various causes (and infighting) have been abusive, and 120+ have been arrested.

I dont agree with the anti mandate, anti vax and anti anything else they put forward, but for those that are genuine, ups to them. They do need to read the news and the science and not FB IMHO. My mate who is a lovely guy is a conspiracy guy. "Id rather read FB user 1234556xyz than the news" There you have it,lLet the 00.1% carry on if thats the case.

And if I was in that area and being abused by them I would be feeling unhinged as well.

I never said to act like a lunatic, But they should not have kept the stance of just sitting back and hoping rain and some music would make them go away.

It has been handled very badly in my opinion.

Yup I agree the front line cops have done a good job but they are just following orders from above.

So tear gas , tasers, and batons are the options of choice?

This isn't Northern Ireland back in the day. PRNK, yes that would work there...

They fall into the annoying rather than truly dangerous category and this will be why they have been given the leeway they have.

Yep. They have a right to protest. And if thats what they did, they would probably have had some contact with Govt, MoH. I read somewhere that a 2 or 3 hour meeting of 3 or 4 to discuss, negotiate. But as has turned out there has been some abusive and assault scenarios, and the protesters are not united. Anti Mandate, anti vax, anti everything and they argue with each other, so are they protesting for a common cause or just being rowdy??

While 99.99% vs 0.01% isnt a great wager, if they had acted genuinely then they could have used democracy to put their words forward, but they didnt.

Towing the cars may be easier to start, even if its not easy as such, easier
The cars at back of queue are furthest way from front of protest where everyone is.

So you nip in cordon off an area with few people which is far easier than pushing into a crowd, or pulling people out of a crowd.
Defense is far easier than attack once you have control of an area as it were.
The first few cars that go people might start to get a bit more concerned there are real consequences.

Even people rushing to the parking area , will take people from front line and may open an opportunity to seal off the grass area.
You can chew away at it bit by bit.

Who knew you needed to have trained and established more police in a pandemic.

Give them a days warning. You can continue to protest, that is your right, but any vehicles tomorrow will be towed. Call 0800 xyzzy and have $xxx ready to reclaim your vehicle.

Except if a couple of protest vehicles "box in" your tow vehicle... sit in them, refuse to get out. What's your plan?

Tear gas, tasers or batons I guess? No. Clamp them and tow them, simple.

People need to understand that strength often doesn't require force.

I never did put words in your mouth, they are my words.I was asking you what options do you see to end this protest? I merely gave three common options

A (recorded) stream of proceedings from earlier today. Surprise, surprise, Whaleoil has shown up to say something.

Pretty concerning to see so many kids there. Shouldn't they be, well, in school, learning something, rather than being dragged along to this nonsense clown show?

I wonder how many in that crowd even know who Whaleoil is and what shenanigans were done over the years around his blog and people.
