Beccara:

Interesting video of their "admin" team

Amazing some people have a very distorted view of things. I mean to say, how can these clowns think the police are trespassing when the police go into the area where the protesters are? If anyone is trespassing it's  the protesters they just haven't yet been served trespass notices.

There are a few ring leaders like Kelvyn Alps with the rest of the crowd being mainly disaffected unvaxxed members of society who have been led to believe silly things like saying a silly statement 3 times exempts you from being arrested. Almost to a man (woman) they have been duped  on social media by "experts" like Ryan Cole,  Peter McCullough, Robert Malone etal.

Looks like towing may start today, they won't get the vehicle back anytime soon, Coster stated

Be very interested to see who's going to do the towing, and how they're going to achieve it.

Why tow when you could Trebuchet.

Just set one up in Molesworth Street and starting flinging cars into the harbour.

He said they have capability, but also saw another article this morning looking at military hardware that could help the towing

I think this is absolutely pathetic: https://thespinoff.co.nz/live-updates/16-02-2022/inundated-with-death-threats-wellington-tow-companies-abused-by-protesters

A death threat because your illegally parked car is towed, while you attend a protest that is really only supported by a tiny minority, whose beliefs are based on medical misinformation online?

I hope these clowns get the book thrown at them for doing this.

Peaceful protest though, right?

I don't envy anyone who is involved with moving these vehicles. There will be damage done to them, no doubt, and while many may think "oh well, you knew the risk of parking illegally", it will be seen as a significant escalation that will require a huge police presence to control. I would be incredibly surprised if the protestors just form an orderly line with their backs to Police while their vehicles are removed.

I'm assuming so, but have the protesters been given a firm deadline by which they can freely remove their own cars until?

IE has someone over a bullhorn repeatedly told them they have until 5pm to remove the cars or they will be removed and impounded?

I don't get to argue the toss with parking wardens when I'm over my pre-paid parking times, so I'm not sure why people blockading the streets around our parliament buildings should get more of a courtesy than that.

"If your car isn't moved in ten minutes, it will be flung into the harbour by engineering students" however, is acceptable.

This isn't the same thing and you are being more than a little silly.

Regarding a deadline, now that it's day 9 presumably they have been asked multiple times to move them over the last 7-8 days including an offer of free secure parking at the stadium 2 days ago which was refused. The Police commissioner also stated publicly last night that they would aim to be towing from today. It would be reasonable to assume a "deadline" must be just about up by now.

I am treating this protest with exactly the level of credibility it warrants, which is sod all.

I feel the point is valid though - it's pretty obvious that you shouldn't be able to grind a city street to a total halt. There shouldn't need to be clear instructions or deadlines given to move a car when it's being intentionally used in a blockade that breaches parking bylaws, rules around traffic flow etc. It's not like there's a debate around the validity of the rules here.

There's no need for the authorities to over-and-above good-faith communications on what is obviously a group of people who refuse to engage with them. At this point, if I was a Wellington resident, I'd be questioning if I ever needed to pay for parking in the city centre ever again.

I expect the Police will sound horn a deadline, that gives ample time for vehicles to be moved. Then they get towed, and if anyone resists they join the other 120+ that got arrested. I know some want a teargas and taser approach, but the Police will try to allow peaceful protestors to peacefully protest, and just eject the cars

It's clear the police are giving protesters the opportunity to remove cars to a free parking area. Police are giving the parkers a clear choice - move your car to free parking or get towed to a secure lockup where you probably won't get it back for a while. Very sensible.
