Joe Kent makes an obvious point:

It does look like that's the direction Trump is headed.

UK will convene a group of 35 nations to reopen Hormuz when fighting has stopped:

"Starmer said UK Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper would host a virtual meeting of 35 countries on Thursday to assess measures to reopen the strait “after the fighting has stopped” The meeting will “assess all viable diplomatic and political measures that we can take to restore freedom of navigation, guarantee the safety of trapped ships and seafarers and resume the movement of vital commodities”, the UK prime minister said"

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/4/1/uk-to-host-meeting-of-35-countries-on-reopening-strait-of-hormuz

Imo they will all eventually conclude that asking nicely is the best option and get on with it.

So Trump and cronies spent most of the term so far in a continuing trade/tariff war.
Simultaneously virtually blackmailing for investment in USA to trade more US stuff.

Now Trump is saying we don't need world trade?

USA can just be a self sufficient North Korea?
You fix stuff we broke yourself.

His family fortune pumped with Middle East money.
Jarred's business is pretty much managing who gets billions in Middle East money he controls.

Elon may be counting on Middle East money for his highly inflated IPO too.
All those doing Ai center builds on ever more trillions of high-risk investment.

Trump lies all day every day. Even contradicts himself in the same speeches.
In the end the money may not lie?

Trump making the same mistake again:

"“We’re going to bring them back to the stone ages,” the President said, “where they belong.” In a phone interview the next morning, Trump told TIME that Iran was eager to make a deal to end the fighting. ‘Why wouldn't they call? We just blew up their three big bridges last night,” the President says. “They’re getting decimated. They say Trump is not negotiating with Iran. I mean, it's sort of an easy negotiation.”

https://time.com/article/2026/04/02/trump-iran-off-ramp/

Art of the deal yeah right. In response to that largely pointless vandalism Iran has said bridges in the region are now legitimate targets.

I thought he wanted the people to rise a dget rid of the government. Now he wants to bomb them back to the dark ages.

He's just a racist interested in the oil, trying to deflect from his links to Epstein.

Trump did include in one of his more recent diatribes to help MAGA forget about Epstein.
Attack on another race saying they were inherently low IQ.
On his way back to the success of 'they are eating cats and dogs' that got Americans out to vote for him.
Gobbles would approve.

Anyhow Trump as stable genius, has achieved so far in his war a global recession that will see USA selling less. Even his much-loved farmers now facing higher fuel, fertilizer prices.

Given Iran every reason to run a toll booth and only allow friends access to strait.
That they can run a tool booth says they are operationally intact.
They can build IRGC back better buying newest equipment.

The enriched uranium is no doubt ever harder to obtain. What would you bait your Trump trap with?
There was one plan for a raid that would include earthmoving equipment to dig out where they think it is.
Simple and quick?

The casino bankrupt gambling there might be a collapse where Assads Syria, aftermath of 1st Iraq war etc has shown odds not that great.
Hegseth is firing any military leaders who might give a reasoned decrescent.
He might still get lucky, betting average Americans future healthcare.

What I would like to see ( but I am not holding my breath ) ...

  • FIFA rescinds the FIFA Peace Prize
  • FIFA moving the 2026 World Cup to Mexico
  • FIFA awarding the "FIFA Peace Prize - Football Unites the world" to Mexico for doing so
  • Alternatively, everyone boycotts the world cup in the US

Unfortunately, Trump has found in FIFA something just as corrupt has himself.

So, this certainly won't be a Blitzkrieg. Someone else has done that better. 😁😉

For different values of better.

The Biltzkrieg that defeated France was a combined arms attack over land and won because of getting inside the French's OODA loop, eg the French high commands orders were regularly a perfect response but each was 24 hour too late.

However what is referred to as "The Blitz" was a failure, it was a switch from trying to defeat the RAF to targeting London in order to break the will of the British. Apart from the Hiroshima and Nagasaki, an air campaign alone has not defeated a country. Technically the Japanese were defeated by attacking at Pearl Harbour, they had no chance of defeating the US, it was just a matter of time.

Really? It's the term for a military strategy, and that's how I meant it. This tactic was also used, and especially employed, on the Eastern Front. It also says nothing about the (mad) character of the commander-in-chief, who in this case seems quite similar to ours from back then.

US Military does have exceptional capabilities, if they plan, assemble all the pieces, have clear objectives.
With Trump, Vance, Hegseth, MAGA you throw that all out the window. The Russian approach just SMO it.

More like doing a Custer.
You go deep into enemy territory certain of your power of trained soldiers will break the enemy.
Peak antiwoke, Hegseths warrior spirit in action.
Then its 'Who Knew'.

Sorry, I was trying to compare "The Blitz" with the current war tactic.

Now an F15E and an A-10-A were downed in Iran. One of the F15E pilots was rescued, and the other one was unaccounted for.

Also, it seems the USA is running out of missiles, and production is not going to ramp up to replenish the stocks.

Netanyahu's government is widely believed to undercount combat injuries and deaths in an effort to maintain fragile domestic political support.

There are strong indications the Trump administration may be trying much the same thing in the Iran war:

It is finally Trump's Infrastructure Week. Rather than spend money fixing roads and bridges in the US, spend even more just to make sure you can say that that it is better than that in Iran.

You thought they were asking for $200 billion for the war? Now Trump wants $1.5 trillion, presumably to make it extra "tippy top".
