Heh, what (postive) change do you expect to see as a result of those two things?

I potentially see the opposite in those cases. But the system is broken, and there are a lot of disillusioned people. You do get the same thing happening in NZ, where people are wanting a change. But what are the options, and are they better or worse than what we have got now?

The suspect Salman Abedi was born in England.

Yes he was of Muslim faith. The Imam of Didsbury Mosque, where Abedi attended, claims that Abedi had looked at him "with hate" when the Imam preached against ISIS and Ansar al-Sharia.

Salman Abedi's parents were originally from Tripoli 37 years ago.

My heart goes out to those who lost their lives and their families left dealing with that loss.

The initial reaction on being near the explosion was "Run away". Ok, that makes sense.

"Lets get to the tube station and on the train so we can get away from here as fast as possible" - has me scratching my head a little.

If there has been one attack, there is a chance of others. And a public transport hub like a train station is a prime target. Especially if they have just herded a bunch of terrified people to the station with an explosion elsewhere.

One of the reports said because it was a concert with a predominantly young crowd, and not so many 'supervising adults' around panic set in more than usual. Maybe panic would have set in regardless. I will admit it is easy to comment from a distance rather than on the ground.

I'm not sure what the correct response would be in this situation, but using public transport would probably not be my first option.

In the outcome, there were no secondary explosions on the trains. And maybe I have a disturbed mind for even considering it. But what if?

Fredd99 makes a good point here. Some may not remember the IRA terrorism of past decades, or the home-grown European terrorists from Italy and Germany. It is easy to paste a Muslim sticker over outrages like this one, but it is not any particular ideology or belief system, it is the sick, twisted individuals who think this kind of thing is an acceptable way to achieve something.

Technically correct. However, it is highly likely that increased suspicion, mistrust and on occasion downright hostility is likely to increase between Muslim/non-muslim components of societies affected by this sort of thing. It eats away goodwill towards genuine refugees and that sort of thing, hardens attitudes and will generally result in worse outcomes for muslims not better ones eventually.

PIRA certainly had a particular ideology. Having lived through their bombings in mainland Britain in the 70's and 80's as well as had friends serving in Northern Ireland during the Troubles I for one am unlikely to forget.

Placing your condolences here does nothing to alleviate the suffering of those affected. The people are still dead. Their families are still now without them. So stuff your virtue signalling where the sun doesn't shine and stop telling people what aspects of an event they should and shouldn't discuss.

The UK has raised its threat level to Critical, saying an attack is imminent.

If they had credible intelligence, the threat level would have been Critical BEFORE this event.
