I did read that it was in a public space outside the arena - so technically it could have been both.

My family's hearts go out to these people that have been affected in such a sudden and brutal manner. I constantly wonder about the state of humanity and how it will all turn out.

Thoughts go out to any Geekzone members with family in Manchester. The world is a very small place.

The mind boggles at the target, for the love of all the goodness in the world, why and how could any one target young teenage girls at the end of a music concert?

This will go down as one of the most inhumane and despicable acts the Western world has ever seen.

REal terrible thing to happen. Yes it is a real worry the way the world has changed in recent years, including NZ.

I really makes me wonder if we should be trying to dramatically increase NZs population like we are, from importing our population from overseas, as quickly as we are. There are good things you get from having all these cultures, but you also potentially get bad eggs.

IMO it is only a matter of time before NZ has some form of this type of event. It is perhaps a big wakeup call. Already we have cities in NZ installing cameras in all the cities main streets for surveillance.

How depraved do you have to be to target children? Sandy Hook was inhuman, this is on a par.

*I'll bite.

Sandy Hook was equally depraved; no 'religion of peace' involvement there. No one ideology or religion has a monopoly on inhuman acts.

Apples and oranges. Mass murder by someone with serious mental health issues versus deliberate terrorism in the name of a religion are very different things.

With these types of attacks now occurring at least once a year you have to wonder if we are going to start seeing airport style security at many public events. The problem is that a lot of large events don't have definite entry and exit points - e.g. the Boston Marathon.

Both mental illness in my book.
