On Memorial Day, observed annually on the last Monday of May, Americans commemorate those who died while serving in the U.S. military.

In America, the 3 day weekend had 17 mass shootings. One was on a Florida beach where 5 adults and 4 children's were shot, including a one-year old.

Governor DeSantis, and presidential candidate, recently signed a measure that will allow Florida residents to carry guns without a state permit saying “You don’t need a permission slip from the government to be able to exercise your constitutional rights,”

When the bill passed state Senator Jay Collins, a Tampa Republican and sponsor of the legislation. "Here in the free state of Florida, government will not get in the way of law-abiding Americans who want to defend themselves and their families.”

During a discussion about this a few days ago the topic of Republicans liking to claim to be pro-life came up. Given that they could prevent 45-50,000 deaths a year and several times as many maimings, cripplings, and so on (one figure I've seen for US gun violence is 4 non-fatal for every 1 fatal) simply by enacting gun-control legislation, I pointed out that it would be more accurate to say they were pro-death than pro-life.

So far more mass shootings than days this year.

In the US, this Saturday and Sunday multiple mass shootings killed 4 and injured 30.

This doesn't include "normal" shootings, involving less than 4 people. Roughly 327 people are shot in the United States everyday.

Then there is the mass the everyday stupid gun shootings.

Latest an Uber driver because he was Mexican.
In USA you shoot first and don't bother to ask questions.
Someone knocks at your door in error, shoot through the door.
Someone drives up your driveway, and starts backing out of course you shoot them.
A pretty cheerleader jumps into your car by mistake goes back to her friends you shoot them.
Ball that Neighbours kids playing with lands on your lawn, answer is a gun.

Her Dear Leader told her that all Mexicans are rapists so it's a natural conclusion to come to. Just like the transphobic "not acting in their gender role" or whatever the phrase is is being shown for what it really is.

Edited video. blurred out the faces of civilians and victims, and some language has been removed

Law enforcement officials have released bodycam footage from the day a 33-year-old gunman killed eight people, including three children at the Allen Premium Outlets mall.

The body camera was worn on May 6 by an Allen police officer who was nearby on an unrelated call. He responded, killing the shooter

The body camera footage released Wednesday showed the tragic events from the officer's perspective.

The video starts with the officer speaking to a mother and her two kids when more than 10 gunshots are heard off in the distance. The officer calls in the shots fired over the radio and another round of gunfire is heard. The officer grabs his weapon and tells shoppers to get down.

July 4th, is American Independence Day. It commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence declaring the colonies' separation from Great Britain.

The Liberty Bell is an iconic symbol of American independence located in Philadelphia.

In an doubtful story, it was said to be rung to mark the reading of the United States Declaration of Independence (couldn't have been, because there was no immediate announcement was made of the Second Continental Congress's vote for independence)

4 July 2023, in a shooting in Philadelphia five people were killed, aged 15-49, and four others wounded, including 2 children aged 2 and 13.

I believe over 80 shots were fired by the gunman, wearing body armor, and using an AR style assault rifle. The shooter had a criminal history, including gun charges, yet he was still able to legally purchawse the gun and bulletproof vest.

In a separate incident, a shooting in Fort Worth, Texas after a local 4 July festival left at least three people dead and eight others wounded.

And here is a guy riding around on a scooter shooting people at random. Shootings in America, mass or individual, have become normalised. It is part of people's everyday awareness. You hear there has been another one and you go 'oh, that is just America', like what else should you expect. How utterly sad and pathetic is that?
