Stop the personal attacks

Now it makes zero sense to tell your enemy what you are planning. How in the hell am I being silly. I am from a military family and I can assure you the US military would be extremely pissed if Trump released the plan details to satisfy the the internet .

You complain a lot about personal attacks, name-calling, references you find offensive, and anything else you disapprove of. That is your good right as this forum is about an exchange of views, but it doesn’t extend to trying to shut other people down.

In this specific case, there are two assertions being made, first, that Trump is a liar, second, that he has no plan to defeat ISIS in spite of the promise he made. The first point has been established beyond any doubt. Trump has repeatedly shown himself to be a liar and there is plenty of documentary proof of that.

The second point is whether Trump has a new plan to defeat ISIS. He has given no indication of such a thing, despite his promise to come up with one. It is argued that if he actually did have such a plan, he would indicate that in some manner because, on the basis of past performance, it would be very much in his nature to do so. Yes, it is not entirely impossible that he does in fact have some closely-guarded secret plan no-one has heard of, but on the balance of probabilities that seems very unlikely.

Of course it cannot be proved that something does not exist. That is a logical impossibility and demanding such proof is a childish argument, which is what you were called out on. It is equivalent to claiming that someone can poke a hole in water, but only when no-one is looking.

Insisting that the invisible plan is really there, but the fact cannot be revealed because it would endanger troops in the field, is a silly argument. Stating that a plan exists is not the same as stating what the plan consists of. You are simply trying to obscure the lack of substance in your argument. If a plan did exist, that knowledge would not make any difference whatsoever. An enemy is always going to operate on a worst-case assumption anyway. Also, saying ISIS would love to know any details doesn’t add anything. Of course they would, if there were any details to know. What does that have to do with it? It is a silly statement and when you say something silly, which is your good right, I have equal right to call it what it is. That is not a personal attack so quit trying to use that to get your own way. It is a poor debating tactic.

Before I leave this forum forever answer me this give at least two example where military plans were released to the public prior the event?????  That does not include a cover we will retake Kuwait or we will defeat ISIS it is the plans that submitted by Chief of General staff to the political leader(s)

BTW you have zero demonstrated knowledge of military planning and tactics.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Thanks for the confirmation. I am from a family with long military background including Senior ranks, so before you personally attack people just because they have a view contrary to you view of the world you may wish to consider where  they maybe from.

We don't have a long thread about Vladimir Putin who is equally capable of affecting the world, if not more so - for example.

LOL - some irony there methinks.

If anyone else is interested in returning to a serious discussion of this topic, here is a brief excerpt of a disturbing editorial by the board of the Washington Post:

The top priority of the president and Congress should be to fully expose this hostile assault (by Russia) and develop means to counter it.

Instead, Mr. Trump appears to be doing his best to confuse the public about the facts and to prevent the truth from coming out. That, of course, is Russia’s agenda — and it is the strangest and most suspicious aspect of his presidency.

Oh please...

That qualifies you no more to give "educated opinion" on the matter of the POTUS having a great new plan to defeat ISIS, than the pump attendant at my local servo.

Trump does not have a plan. He promised a plan. He doesn't have to give details of a plan. He needs to enact it. It's no different than saying "We will repeal Obamacare (sic) on Day one" and doing nothing.

During the campaign he said he had a plan. Then he asked the military to come up with a plan.

He's obviously lying. All the time.

While my view on Trump is similar but NOT the same as yours, I have to agree 100% with you on this. There was a recent interview conducted by the washington post. And he could NOT answer the questions. He just said what he wanted to say about himself when he attempted to answer them. This apparently went on for 67 minutes, and he looked really really bad.

So to satisfy yourself you believe the President should release the details of a military plan prior engagement. ISIS would love that so they can be prepared and take the lives of American and Allied servicemen.

Sometimes your arguments are just silly. When you back yourself into a corner, just accept it and move on.

I think he has a point. There is that remote possibility that his ISIS plan failed to make it to his tweet fingers.

We all know his plan don't we - he's just increased his drone (or was it air-)strikes and military budget. He plans to bomb everything that moves without putting men on the ground. No?

I agree. A plan is a decision to are action, based on all known factors. Going by Trumps past plans, Wall (in planning weeks and weeks ago, to be advised in 2 weeks, gone silent as no money, stupid idea), Muslim bans, both failed, Replacing Obamacare, failed, Tax Cuts, reported to be very likely, now reported to be very unlikely, another fail.(We need more bullets)

So ISIS was no more than another election ploy.

Bark is worse than his bite. Barks dont hurt, and thats all he does. World is unchanged. News at 11

You have been pushing that idea for some time now and I am sure everyone here knows what you think. Maybe it is time to stop repeating it or come up with something new. Whether the discussion here serves any purpose or not, some people seem to still think it has merit. That is enough to keep it going.

I assume you mean me? Yes, I have repeated my opinion. And that's ok.

IMHO I am glad is he a liar.

I am glad he has a sordid past

I am glad that he is a tweet fiend

I am glad that he hired the other idiots to support HIS stupid/undoable policies

I am glad that his inexperience, lack of decorum, is on display to the world.

And I am glad that because of al these factors, his approval is low, he can't get anything of substance past his own party and the judiciary.

So, IMHO, his failings are what keeps the world very unaffected by him. So, on that, I am fully happy with his shortcomings

Given the above it's hard to be happy that Trump is the current constitutional commander of all the military forces of the United States of America.

If he can carry out commands that cause issues. So far, its all fails. Fails caused by his own party and the judiciary. Imagine if John Key told us he will pass these laws, then National Party shuts it down, or the Supreme Court does. Thats Trump in his day to day life as POTUS

This isn't a serious discussion, it s a thread to diss Trump (which I am quite hoary with.) But it doesnt often being real issues up, its about anti Trump adjectives. (Which I am happy about).

I have repeated myself a few times on my opinion as you have commented on. But I dont need any more reminders how he is a liar, corrupt, and all the other adjectives, we get it. But that is the vast majority of this thread.

Just an observation, but this is a huge thread to discuss someone who is in charge of another country, whom we cannot vote for, influence or affect.

Does it serve any purpose other than a general whinge fest and echo chamber? Surely it must be time to move on by now.

There is a button at the bottom labelled 'unwatch topic'. Use it.

I'm aware of the button. I'm merely curious as to why people are still whining and moaning about something far beyond their control so long after the fact....

I understand change is hard and if this thread was because Winston Peters was now PM, I could see why it was going on so much.

We don't have a long thread about Vladimir Putin who is equally capable of affecting the world, if not more so - for example.

Trump is POTUS whether we like it or not. It makes no difference what we think - not so much as a scintilla to be honest. Just seems like a waste of energy.

Because what this clown POTUS does matters to more than just the USA and is of immense interest to many across the globe - myself included.

So even though we can't change it, we can still discuss him and his actions and share our views ......you know, like a discussion forum...

So if the "whining and moaning" bothers you so much - please push the unwatch button.

But how much can you essentially recycle the same thing before it ceases to be 'discussion' and just becomes a whinge-fest?

Personally I'd be more worried about Putin and his cabal of lawless billionaires who have very little in the way of political checks and balances. Not as popular as moaning about Trump I suppose.
