Yet you clearly speak at least one language. If you have a memory that functions normally, you can learn another. You may have trouble with the grammar and you may not speak it correctly, but you can learn to communicate. How many Maori words do you know?

Very few. From personal experience I just don't agree with you. I tried to learn Italian a few years back and it was simply pointless. My brain just isn't wired that way. The words and grammar just don't make sense to me.
On the other hand I am fluent in C++, C# and even dead languages like Cobol and Assembler.

Research shows it's harder after the age of 10-12. Also a factor is motivation/need. If you were in a demanding immersion situation you might be surprised how much you'd learn.
And , anyhow, if you can learn multiple programming languages you can obviously handle computer grammar. A for loop is a for loop no matter which way you present it.
So it is with spoken languages.

A little ironic that Boris Johnson is now arguably putting at risk the same demographic that voted for him and his Brexit.
Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

It's only what he is being advised to do. And as usual some'experts are for it and some against so if he didn't go with that strategy the 'herd immunity' proponents would be trashing him and his current critics would be lauding him.
It could be a politically useful strategy. The damage to the economy from Brexit will be mixed in with damage from the pandemic and it will be hard for any one to quantify what the damage from Brexit alone is/was.
He's not as dumb as he acts.

The Black Death didn’t just wipe out millions of Europeans during the 14th century. It left a mark on the human genome, favoring those who carried certain immune system genes, according to a new study. Those changes may help explain why Europeans respond differently from other people to some diseases and have different susceptibilities to autoimmune disorders....

I assume the brexit negotiations have started but you hear absolutely nothing about them. Exactly how the politicians like it. No oversight.

The idea of the herd immunity and getting it over and done with seems great at first thought but an exponential increase in serious cases will result in really difficult PR stories from an overloaded health system.
Footage of overflowing hospitals and people dropping in the street like flies anyone?

The supposed plan to let Covid run rampant to "get it over and done with" but isolate the most vulnerable may have been overblown/misreported by the media - including usually reasonably reliable sources. The suggestion to do it was worthy of consideration - for a few minutes until brains engaged. I can't find links to articles that verifies this as "serious policy suggestion" - but searching google for anything to do with Covid-19 is a nightmare now.
The UK policy to protect / isolate over 70s, combined with the same level of response every other country is doing for everybody else may prove to be a very good move.
Boris seems to be handling this okay.
And just heard now he is in the ICU being treated for Covid-19. Depsite not liking his politics, I hope he is able to recover.
Dominic Raab as Acting PM. Can't decide who's worse. I personally couldn't care less about Boris Johnson and have no desire to pretend that I have any well-wishes for this pathological liar. If he recovers, good for him. If he's gone, few apart from his friends and family plus the hardcore Tories will mourn.
BBC News - Trump asks drug companies to help Johnson
today
In his White House briefing, President Trump said he had spoken to "major" drug companies, to see if they could offer any help to the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
"I've asked them to contact London immediately ... more than major, more than size, they're geniuses."
It's all about Donald. 😕

Sideface ,
Comedy gold , you can just imagine the 'yes minister' setup , something like.
Prime Minister , Donald Trump has volunteered you for several experimental and unproven treatments.
Our advice is that this is that our future trade deals and relationship could depend on our response.
Its not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country.
From Prime Minister to lab rat.
From this article:
According to the World Health Organisation, about 14% of COVID-19 patients will develop symptoms severe enough to need oxygen, and 5% will need intensive care treatment.
The latest figures show that the death rate of those admitted to intensive care in the UK now exceeds 50%.
So tracking towards 3% for the UK already, and it would be expected to rise as the ICU beds are filled.
