Simon Bridges has turned the corner.
Appears now to be 100% on-board.
Thank goodness for that.
"Level 4 and shutting down is clearly right," Bridges said.
If the models that he and Ardern have both seen "are even half right" shutting down is the only option.

They gave him the 'important' job of chairing the committee to oversee the Government's response to Covid-19.
Much respect to the person who thought of that.
What are the characteristics of the governments doing well in this crisis?
Taiwan's Health Minister, an epidemiologist by training, led their effort
Our health minister, David Clark, dropped out of medical school.

Im quite impressed with SB in that committee. He has, as above, been part of the no partisan approach, being on the same side. Its fine also to criticise if need be.In the committee he chairs, he has been harsh, as has the committee, asking the hard questions, but he hasn't used that as an obvious agenda. Good to see

You've lost me completely. Who leads the effort? Ministry of Health. Guidance from WHO and others that they seek.
If I was an MP and you were too, you could be Minister of Transport I could be Minister of Health, while its ideal if they have some knowledge, they are just the leader of the umpteen other Ministerial employees who are deeply qualified. Thats why you see a CEO of a company, moving to be CEO of a totally different industry. They are CEO's, they lead the expertise, they dont need to have it themselves.

Have some knowledge? It's imperative to have more than a modicum of knowledge so you know who to tap for information and not just whoever is currently employed at the MOH.

However, Woodhouse said the fact there weren't any direct flights from Wuhan did not mean increased vigilance and screening at the border were not needed.
He said given Chinese New Year celebrations were imminent, there was an increased risk with large numbers of international visitors expected, combined with large gatherings.
"With reports Wuhan has stopped all public transport and flights to try to contain the deadly virus, it's clear the government is not doing enough to prevent the disease arriving in New Zealand."
The National Party is calling on the government to:
- Make the coronavirus a specific notifiable disease
- Ask health questions on arrival about travel history and any symptoms for those who have travelled from affected areas
- Heighten health surveillance at international airports with appropriate equipment and staff
- Ensure all DHBs have outbreak protocols in place
Health Minister David Clark said the government was "alert but not alarmed" about the outbreak.
Prof M Baker:
"We have to direct flights from several cities in China into Auckland and Christchurch, and we also have flights that transit very swiftly through Australia to other airports in New Zealand, Wellington and Queenstown, for example," he said.
"So we are very exposed, just as Australia and the US and all of Europe is very exposed."
Prof Baker hoped the epidemic had been contained, but he said that seemed very unlikely.

I know a CEO that worked for a telco, then a TV company then a supermarket chain. i also know of one that worked for a LARGE US shopping business, now works for an airline, the list goes on. At that level , its about leadership, getting and using the right team (of experts) underneath you
Not New Zealand politics but this is... sorry, I had to post it:
