Eventually there will be far more houses than buyers (I hope) and prices will start to fall (I hope) to normal/sane levels.

House prices might make a market correction, but for the foreseeable future, and at least the next 10-15 years I expect demand to outstrip supply. There might be brief periods of reprieve depending on the economy.

I don’t think you can read too much into any parliamentary debate as I believe questions have to be submitted in advance. That and the fact that Mallard as speaker is protecting the government as much as he can and you don’t really get any genuine impression of ability or who ‘won’ or lost.

I respectfully disagree. Clare Curran certainly didn't get a graceful exit. Nor did she deserve one. No-one was protecting her that day.

Or how about Maurice Williamson's big gay rainbow speech? You can read a lot into what MPs say in parliament, and how they say it.

I think they had decided Curran was of no further use by then and Williamson’s speech whilst entertaining was just that, entertaining. Parliament is not a genuine arena for debate given so much is structured, especially around question time. It’s often nothing more of a PR stunt for one or both parties.

Placing this here as it's more politics related - a National MP has attended an antivaxx protest twice now - the first time she claimed she didn't know what the protest was about (couldn't read the signs?), the second time she proudly posted it on FB until Luxon spoke to her.

Ironically, most National MP's didn't want her back in Parliament anyway, she only got there because Nick Smith left: https://www.newsroom.co.nz/national-party-all-out-of-love-for-returning-mp

She is a list MP so the next person in the list, Johnathan Young from New Plymouth according to the Nats website.

How long before the loose cannon gets pushed overboard?

Most of the posters in this thread are just like chimpanzees on MDMA, full of feelings of bonhomie, joy, and optimism. Fred99 8/4/21

She might get a bit more leeway being female and Māori, two demographics the Nats aren’t exactly over represented in.

This is Luxon's first test of people management and he isn't doing much inspiring tbh.
