In 2021, Lord Martin Rees, a British cosmologist and astrophysicist also described Musk's plan as a "dangerous delusion" Neil deGrasse Tyson "It is so much easier to make Earth return to Earth again rather than terraforming Mars.

In 2022, George Dvorsky writing for Gizmodo characterized Musk's plans for a Mars colony by 2050 as "pure delusion".

Looking back at 2011. Wall Street interview, Elon Musk 2011.

Interviewer: when are you going to put your first man on the planet, man or woman?

Musk: Well we're going all the way to Mars.

Interviewer: time frame?

Musk: best case 10 years worst case 15 to 20 years (predict 2021 best case, worst case 2026 to 2036.)

Interviewer: and you're sort of on your own in this uh effort now are you going to build the colony as well when you get there?

Musk: Well our goal is we want to be like the um we want to be like the shipping company that brought uh people from Europe to America.

If you want to search for "Musk in the news", He recently visited the WWII Auschwitz death camp with right-winger political commentator Ben Shapiro

It was a blatant spin. He sparked an outcry in November when he responded on X to a user who accused Jews of hating white people and professing indifference to antisemitism by posting, “You have said the actual truth.”

He brought his 3-year-old son named X Æ A-Xii. That's not a typo.

He said so many dumb things, I'm not even going to bother repeating them.

A Holocaust survivor and his life partner accompanied Musk on his recent private Auschwitz visit:

Times of Israel: Musk “struck me as a dangerous teenager,” Gray said, “drunk with power. He is of the ‘burn it all down’ ilk.” While he was attentive at Auschwitz, “greet[ing] Gidon politely and listen[ing] to him — sort of,” his talk afterward, in which he described himself as “aspirationally Jewish,” was a crushing disappointment and exposed a “real disconnect,” she said, adding, it was “like inviting an arsonist to a firefighting convention.”

Maybe the doomsday clock needs to include rise of narcissism, as a 'End of World' risk factor.
Without empathy you are going to have a lot of trouble getting it.

In the 'Everything will be Fine' house burning down meme.

Elon is standing outside saying 'Everything will be Fine', as it is for him.
May even be commenting thats a nice property now there is no 'run down' house on it.
Estate auctions you usually get a bargain.

Combine narcissism and lack of empathy with power, you have a dangerous mix.
Throw in Rupert Murdock, Roger Stone, Kotch, Peter Thiel, Evangelical wealth Churches and many others.

All smart enough to know Trump and current GOP is a disaster, a disaster they can leverage.
Even better its potentially a global one they can leverage globally.

I am very much not an economist and have no real answers in that area, but I have long very strongly believed that an economic system that produces billionaires is deeply flawed and ultimately doomed. No, I don't think communism or socialism are solutions but the adolescent arrogance described above seems to fit all the dotcommers with the possible exception of Bill Gates, who is older and maybe also wiser than the other lot. People who can literally buy anything have no meaningful sense of proportion and Musk and Thiel and Zuckerberg are what you get. Yes, innovators and creators deserve to be rewarded for their abilities, but not to the idiotic extent that currently exists.

Not mentioned, Musk was threatening the Tesla board a few weeks ago ... he wanted them to increase his ownership to 25% of the company.

NASDAQ: Warning: This Skyrocketing Stock Has a Hidden Risk

If you think of electric cars, the first company name you are likely to bring to mind is Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA).
...
In China, the world's second-largest economy, Tesla is not No. 1 in the EV market. China is one of Tesla's focus markets given the sheer size of the country's economy, and the competitive landscape there is something investors will want to consider when thinking about Tesla's growth prospects. If you are looking at Tesla, you really need to think about BYD, even though BYD doesn't sell currently cars in the U.S. because of tariffs.

But that last fact sets up what could be an even larger risk for Tesla. What happens if BYD starts to compete on Tesla's home turf? It is easy to dismiss that possibility because of current geopolitical tensions, but you shouldn't ignore the risk. For example, BYD has been a big investment for Warren Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway. Even after selling millions of dollars worth of shares, the Oracle of Omaha still owns a roughly 8% stake in BYD. That level of support from the famous investor could go a long way to help BYD find its way into the U.S. market, either via imports (assuming a tariff change) or perhaps even with U.S.-based manufacturing assets. That's pure speculation, but with so many companies starting to open new factories in the U.S., it isn't an unrealistic idea.

So the ultimate hidden risk for Tesla is that it has to face a well-positioned rival abroad and could, someday, have to deal with the same company in its stronghold, the U.S. market.

Oooops Elons share of Tesla looks like it might actually get smaller.

Is a God equal before the courts?

Judge rules Musk must give up Tesla compensation worth billions

A Delaware judge ruled Tuesday that Tesla CEO Elon Musk must give up a 2018 bonus agreement that could be worth up to $55.8 billion, determining that it was not negotiated fairly.

A group of Tesla shareholders sued Musk and the company after the company announced the bonus package, which grants Musk a 1 percent stake in the company for each of 12 stock price and revenue milestones laid out in the agreement.

Over 65% of Fortune 500 companies, and over half of all US publicly traded companies are incorporated in Delaware.

Delaware doesn't impose income tax on corporations registered in the state that don't do business in the state. Also, shareholders who don't reside in Delaware need not pay tax on shares in the state. Paying taxes is for suckers. :(

Many articles are paywalled about Musk's rant, because why tell the unclean masses? :(

Dailymail: Elon Musk rails against Delaware and warns NEVER to incorporate there after the state's court ordered him to return $55B Tesla pay packet

Elon Musk has railed against Delaware, saying businesses should never incorporate there, after a judge in the state ruled he is not entitled to his $55 billion Tesla compensation package.

'Never incorporate your company in the state of Delaware,' Musk fumed on Twitter. He later added, 'I recommend incorporating in Nevada or Texas if you prefer shareholders to decide matters.'

The compensation plan in question, which helped make Musk the richest person in the world, consisted entirely of performance-based grants of Tesla stock, which Musk was required to hold for at least five years. Those shares will now be cancelled.

The ruling on Tuesday from Chancellor Kathaleen St. Jude McCormick came in a shareholder lawsuit against the Tesla CEO and directors of the company, alleging breach of duties and unjust enrichment for Musk.

Delaware is a popular state for incorporation precisely because of its specialized commercial litigation system, known as Chancery Court, which has procedures and precedents that are well-known to fleets of corporate attorneys.

The Blue Hen State also offers certain corporate tax advantages — although other states such as Wyoming have lower corporate tax rates, but are not popular incorporation spots because they lack Delaware's legal infrastructure.

Delaware's Chancery Court does not use juries, and the judges who decide its cases have typically spent their entire careers in corporate litigation.

Few other states have a separate court system devoted specifically to equity law, meaning that complex shareholder lawsuits could end up in front of judges who hear all manner of cases, and be decided by juries of laypersons.

Corporations and their executives tend to find reassurance in Delaware's well-developed body of case law, which offers guidance as to what actions and decisions will hold up against lawsuits.

Delaware's legal precedents have historically granted wide latitude to corporate officers in their decision making, though some critics argue recent chancery rulings display a streak of anti-business thinking.

Although Delaware is sometimes described as a 'tax haven', the state levies an 8.7 percent corporate income tax as well as a gross receipts tax. But its complex corporate tax rules are generally considered business-friendly.

More on Musk's meeting with Holocaust survivor:

Times of Israel: For Gidon, who had spent four years in Theresienstadt, Auschwitz was a place he had resolutely never set foot in. He has turned down other invitations to go in the past. For Gidon, Auschwitz was what being “sent east” from Theresienstadt looked like. It was where his father, Ernst, number B12156, was sent in September 1944. It was a place of nightmares. Could Gidon’s presence on this tour – this dare, really, for Musk to visit Auschwitz – make any difference to Musk?

Gidon feels it did not have the impact he hoped and is composing a letter to Musk which he hopes Musk will read.

A general counsel, also known as chief counsel or chief legal officer (CLO), is the chief in-house lawyer for a company.

They are supposed to represent the best interest of the company and its share holders, in this case Tesla.

Todd Maron actions border on insane.

Business Insider: A Tesla lawyer burst into tears during a deposition on Elon Musk's compensation package because he admired Musk so much, judge says

You might be a fan of Elon Musk, but would you cry for him during a deposition?

That's what former Tesla General Counsel Todd Maron did, according to court documents out of Delaware.

In a written opinion on Tuesday, Delaware judge Kathaleen McCormick criticized how Tesla's committee and its working group decided to award Musk his $55 billion compensation package. This process that led to the package's approval was "deeply flawed," per McCormick's opinion.

"The working group included management members who were beholden to Musk, such as General Counsel Todd Maron who was Musk's former divorce attorney and whose admiration for Musk moved him to tears during his deposition," McCormick wrote in her decision.

"In fact, Maron was a primary go-between Musk and the committee, and it is unclear on whose side Maron viewed himself. Yet many of the documents cited by the defendants as proof of a fair process were drafted by Maron," she added.

First Amendment: freedom of speech

Second Amendment: freedom to arm bears... I mean ... freedom to bear arms

AR-15: Assualt rifle. AR-15 is a semi-automatic rifle, firing one shot per trigger pull, while the M16 can fire automatically. An AR-15 with a bump stock can fire between 400 and 800 rounds per minute, and hold up to 100 rounds. It's perfectly normal to shoot a deer with 100 rounds in less than 10 seconds, by the way :(

Nbc News: Missouri Republican candidate torches LGBTQ-inclusive books in viral video

Valentina Gomez, who is running for Missouri secretary of state, lit two books on fire, including an LGBTQ guide for teens and a sex education book.
...
In a video on her Instagram account, Gomez says she trusts three things: “The Bible, X — thank you, Elon Musk — and my AR-15.”

In another, she says over video of her shooting firearms: “The First Amendment lives on, and let me remind you that the Second one will make sure it does.”
