Also does the USA have hypersonic missiles? I see they are developing them, but ready by 2025 seems to be a bit late, believe there is no defence against them.

Russia has made an ultimatum and given Ukrainian forces until 5am Moscow time (3pm in New Zealand) to surrender Mariupol.

It has be claimed a TOS-1A has been spotted in the vicinity of Mariupol as well.

Nobody is going to shoot nukes at Russia. And I would not expect Russia to be shooting nukes either. There are a bunch of selfish, greedy billionaire definitely-not-criminals who attached themselves to Putin because he was the way to make a lot of easy money. But they want to be kings of the world, not kings of the radioactive ashes. If he tries to order a nuclear launch odds are he'll be suicided with three shots to the back of the head before the words have fully left his mouth.

They're toeing his line because they're afraid of him. The second he makes a move to kill them all anyway, they have nothing left to lose.

There are some lines that pretty much everyone knows you don't cross, no matter what. Towards the end of WWII, Germany had considerable stocks of the nuclear weapons of the day, nerve gas, which no-one else had or had any defence against. It was suggested to Hitler that he abrogate the Geneva convention and use it in the defence of the Reich, but that was too much even for him. Some of it was possibly due to him having experienced gas warfare in WWI, but a big factor was that his own generals most likely wouldn't stand for it, and once they balked at that they'd be emboldened to do a lot more.

I'd bet a month's salary that Trump never threatened Putin over invading Ukraine.

In my opinion, Trump authorized Rudy Giuliani to tell this story so they could both back-pedal their Russian-Ukraine history.

I do believe that Trump didn't know about these were on churches.

“So, he has a meeting with Putin and he tells him, they’re talking about Ukraine and he says, “Vladimir, you shouldn’t, like, attack Ukraine, cause then I’m gonna – well I never liked those big – what are those things you’ve got in Moscow? Those big bubbles, those big gold bubbles. I never liked those things. So, I’m going to have to blow ‘em up."

A senior U.S. defense department official said that after 26 days of fighting, the Russians had not been able to advance beyond nine miles northwest of Kyiv or 18 miles from the city’s east — essentially where they were last week.

In other major developments:

The Pentagon has assessed that Russia’s “combat power” in Ukraine has dipped below 90 percent of its original force for the first time, reflecting the losses Russian troops have suffered at the hands of Ukrainian soldiers.
President Biden is preparing to travel to a NATO summit this week in Brussels, where Western allies are expected to discuss how they will respond if Russia employs chemical, biological, cyber- or nuclear weapons.

Ukrainian forces have defeated the initial Russian campaign of this war.

That campaign aimed to conduct airborne and mechanized operations to seize Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, and other major Ukrainian cities to force a change of government in Ukraine. That campaign has culminated. Russian forces continue to make limited advances in some parts of the theater but are very unlikely to be able to seize their objectives in this way. The doctrinally sound Russian response to this situation would be to end this campaign, accept a possibly lengthy operational pause, develop the plan for a new campaign, build up resources for that new campaign, and launch it when the resources and other conditions are ready.

The Russian military has not yet adopted this approach. It is instead continuing to feed small collections of reinforcements into an ongoing effort to keep the current campaign alive. We assess that that effort will fail.
