Political Cartoon Perfectly Satirizes Trump’s Takeover Of The Religious Right

On March 31, the day before Easter, political cartoonist Mike Luckovich of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, called out evangelicals for their hypocritical support of the president.

He also alleges that Trump has taken advantage of evangelicals to further his own power and ego.

Im surprised there are no comments on the trade war.Thats a biggie. He excluded many and tariffed China. They reacted with a minor tariff response. Then he retaliated with an extra 100 billion trade to be tariffed. Thats actually a great idea, if you don't care about US employment, what it will cost US Joe and Joanne Average, and US agriculture.

Two years ago, the Boston Globe published a satire frontpage imagining what would be a Trump Presidency. The guys must have had access to a time machine:

Most of those things outlined in the Boston Globe satirical front page could easily happen.

I'm not religious.

Well, maybe I'm an atheist with a slight tilt toward agnosticism.

But if I was religious, and truly believed in God, I'd also have to believe in the Devil.

And I'd have no trouble with that because He's alive, well, and thriving in the most influential position in the most influential country in the world.

There should be no doubt about this, in anyone's mind: Trump is a truly EVIL B*****D.

At a time when the world needs an exemplary leader - we have this...creature.

God help America.

And God (if you're there) help the rest of us.

Reminds me of the 1970's era movie The Omen.

I got around to questioning why I had to post such a comment after thinking about a movie I watched 40 odd years ago and came across this little bit of fun:-

Donald Trump and Damien Thorn of the OMEN movies: the DT initials, both with six letters in each name, both Damien and Donald mean "one who rules/subdues," both fabulously rich via inheritances, both entitled pricks, both depraved, both liars speaking "great things" and blasphemies, both attending military academies, both with vast international business enterprises, both thriving on the misfortunes of others, both rising to political power by deceiving the masses, both buying real estate all over the globe, both ignoring conflicts of interest once in power, both operating their construction companies while in the White House!, both lacking human compassion and morality, both lacking any regard for God ...

But there again, the internet found good reason to call Obama the anti-Christ, so ...... ......

Newsweek - Former President of Mexico Vicente Fox Mocks Donald Trump's Small Hands in Cartoon T-Shirt

Former President of Mexico Vicente Fox trolled President Donald Trump on Friday by wearing a black t-shirt that read, "Can't Build a Wall If Your Hands Are Too Small."

Underneath the phrase, the T-shirt featured a cartoonish rendering of Donald Trump as a baby who has soiled a diaper styled to look like the American flag.

Guess who lobbied against sprinklers being required in NYC when the law was being voted back in 1999?

Since the law doesn't require retrofit, guess which aparment where someone died yesterday didn't have sprinklers?

Guess who owns the Trump Tower?

Yes, that was a tasty little bit of information.  I believe Trump only caved after they decided the sprinkler law would not be enforced for existing buildings, (as you said).

But today's news about the FBI raiding Trump's lawyer's offices is more interesting.  I got it from the BBC, but I expect the Washington Post will have more detail.  How does this stand regards lawyer/client confidentiality though?  Apparently one of the things the FBI focused on was the Stormy Daniels payment, which I believe could be construed as a breach of election campaign law.  Could this be the beginning of the end, à la Nixon's final lead up to his having to resign?  ISTM that Trump has flown in the face of one law after another, and got away with it, and I am thinking this is happening because his loyal fan-base is so stupid they don't care how big a sleaze bag he is.  Interesting times.

From the BBC:

"The president 'vehemently denies' Ms Daniels's allegations of an affair

Mr Trump has also obtained a restraining order against Ms Daniels to try to prevent her sharing 'confidential information' about the alleged affair"

In other words, Spanky says he didn't have an affair with Stormy

Spanky says Stormy can't talk about their affair.

Huh?

Vox - The FBI just raided Trump lawyer Michael Cohen’s office

Records related to Cohen’s payment to Stormy Daniels were reportedly seized.

By Andrew Prokopandrew@vox.com Updated Apr 9, 2018

The raids are a remarkable move against a longtime confidant of the president.

Agents reportedly seized records related to Cohen’s $130,000 payment to porn actress/director Stormy Daniels, as well as other matters. ...

Little information is known about the raid so far, but while Cohen has been under some scrutiny in special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation, there are some early signs that these raids are not Russia-related.

Trump: Many people have said I should fire Mueller.

I think this is going to be a very interesting week for American democracy.

CNN - Michael Cohen raid raises stakes for all involved, Democratic senator says

Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal said the FBI raid of Michael Cohen’s office and home is “probably one of the most significant, most seismic events in the Trump-Russia investigation.”

“For the United States Department of Justice to raid a lawyer’s office and his residence is absolutely extraordinary,”

“This kind of search warrant is a profoundly significant development; one of the most important in this entire investigation over the last year and a half.”

Blumenthal said he believes that the raid raises the stakes for all those involved.

“This development means that the Southern District of New York, which is outside of the direct purview [of the] Special Counsel is not intimately involved in this investigation, so it protects the Special Counsel’s investigation in the way that it insulates it from firing Rod Rosenstein, because the Southern District of New York cannot be fired and the judge who approved that warrant cannot be fired.

So, this is now an investigation that has a life of its own,” he said.

UPDATES:

The Washington Post has reported that Cohen is under federal investigation for possible bank fraud, wire fraud, and campaign finance violations.
It is not clear if those are the only alleged crimes that are being investigated.

The FBI has raided Cohen’s office, residence, and hotel room and seized documents, according to the New York Times, CBS, and The Wall Street Journal.

Bloomberg News reports that Robert Mueller received approval for the raid from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who directed that it be carried out by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
