Not being singled out at all ....... but very typical of this highly rated comment

"This action is clearly illegal, was carried out at just the time the inspectors were going into Eastern Gouta, avoided parliamentary scrutiny (and therefore British democracy), was opposed by the majority of the British population, and achieved precisely nothing - while risking the lives of UK servicemen.
May must resign".

The above was in response to a very well written opinion piece by Lord Adonis that was, well, another Guardian triumph of politics over everything.

Don't get me wrong, I find the Guardian an interesting source of points of view, even if I do not agree with them some of the time. No different to reading Breitbart for instance.

I strongly disagree. There is no comparison.

The Guardian is a traditional newspaper that reports factual news, and clearly identifies opinion pieces, which tend to be "liberal". The reader does not have to agree with their opinion pieces, but still gets real news.

By contrast, Brietbart is an unashamed propaganda sheet, which frequently "mis-reports" news (I'm being very generous here), does not identify opinion pieces, and is politically to the right of Donald Trump and Genghis Kahn.

Oops my bad. I should have explained in more detail exactly what I meant. Both outlets have different points of views (whether I agree or not) and will have strong local support for the way news or viewpoints are put forward. People of course are influenced by what they read or view and quite often do not consider an alternative point of view or opinion. Personally I prefer to form an opinion after considering various points of view rather than being told what I should read or believe in an internet forum.

So, don't be concerned. Breitbart was not the best example (although many Trump supporters appear to frequent the place). And just for further clarity, I do not support Trump as POTUS, nor do I worry about it particularly. I would rather focus on those things that I can control or improve.

I'm a bit on the fence about it. For one thing, they already did this about a year ago - not long after Trump was inaugurated - so clearly whatever message it was intended to send wasn't heeded then and I doubt it will be heeded now. On top of that, as numerous other people have pointed out, they can blow a couple of hundred million dollars on Tomahawks no sweat, but they can't afford drinking water, or health care, or pencils in schools, or whatever else.

And that doesn't even begin to get into the topic of just what is it they hope to achieve in Syria anyway. As if the last 20 years alone weren't enough of a lesson in 'what happens when you topple a strongman?' Is Assad a bad man? Yes, yes he is. Would removing him suddenly fill Syrian with rainbows and unicorns? No, almost certainly not. It would simply hand the country over to a different bunch of bad men - in this case, bad men who (unlike Assad) are hell-bent on exporting their terror worldwide. It's a horrible calculus, but the world is probably better off on the whole with Assad in charge rather than the ISIS and/or al-Qaeda opposition forces.

So what alternative is there? Back to the bad old days of White Man's Burden colonial imperialism? Hope that at some point in defiance of 5000 years of history the Middle East will wake up and say 'Hey, you know how we could stop all this killing? By just stopping all this killing!'?

I don't know. I strongly suspect the answer is that there is no answer. The only way to stop the violence is to decide to stop the violence.

In principle I agree with you. I am also strongly against the death penalty. But Assad is such an evil vicious f-ing basterd that I just want to see a rope around his thick, ugly neck. That SOB is directly responsible for the deaths of a half-million people. I am so sick to death of seeing weeping men holding their dead children on television. Whatever it takes that nasty wart needs to go.

There's absolutely no way that the Creature would get involved in military action in Syria for compassionate reasons.

There's only one person (apart from panderers and pussies) that this Thing is interested in, and that's Itself.

And what better way to stir up support amongst the bottom feeders than a rocketry sideshow?

Is it necessary to be rude in terms of his title or by referring to him as 'the Creature'?

That would get you a whack with the ban hammer on most subjects....

It's not a question of whether it is slander or not. It's a question of common politeness and FUG.

Apart from that, I do not think Drumph is entitled to common courtesy. He certainly doesn't extend it to others.

Admirable but ... this is exactly what Trump counts on.

This is The Trump Method.

People who aren't in the gutter with him are seen as weak and irrelevant "liberals".

Former FBI Director James Comey has pulled no punches in a new interview to promote his tell-all memoir, declaring his former boss Donald Trump “morally unfit to be President”.

In an interview with ABC’s 20/20, Mr Comey said he didn’t “buy this stuff about him being mentally incompetent or early stages of dementia”.

“He strikes me as a person of above average intelligence who’s tracking conversations and knows what’s going on,” Mr Comey added.

“I don’t think he’s medically unfit to be president. I think he’s morally unfit to be president.

“Our president must embody respect and adhere to the values that are at the core of this country. The most important being truth. This president is not able to do that.”
