Morally unfit is a term, when applied to US presidents, is a question of degree. How about Lyndon Johnson letting the Israelis get away with shooting & bombing the USS Liberty? How about Obama and his bombing of Pakistani villages? How about Nixon because of Watergate and delaying the Vietnam peace talks for political advantage. George Bush for his lies about Iraq? (And Colin Powell for telling lies for his boss!) Not to forget Britain. How about Winston Churchill authorising the 1000 bomber raids on civilian targets in Germany? Tony Blair for his lies about Iraq? I could fill up this page with morally unfit leaders...

Trump is preemptively attacking former FBI Director James Comey ahead of his book release.

President Donald Trump is preparing for former FBI Director James Comey’s upcoming book tour media blitz the only way he knows how: by losing his cool on Twitter.

On Sunday morning, Trump sent a series of angry, over-the-top tweets (even for Trump) attacking Comey, whose book A Higher Loyalty ... will be released on April 17.

The gist of the tweet screed Sunday morning are three-fold:

One, he attacks Comey personally, again calling him a “slime ball.”

Second, he questions Comey’s integrity, calling the memos Comey relies on to make his claims about Trump’s decision to fire him, “phony.”
“I never asked Comey for Personal Loyalty,” Trump wrote. “I hardly even knew this guy. Just another of his many lies. His ‘memos’ are self serving and FAKE!”

Third, Trump gets into his claim that there’s a partisan conspiracy working against him - claiming former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is corrupt, and that this is all somehow actually Hillary Clinton’s fault.

To be fair to the POTUS, he hasn't started WWIII yet.

I expect that the "morally unfit" comments were mainly about the fact that he's a dirty liar, a racist, a misogynist, and a hypocrite, and is using his position to enrich himself, his family, and an assortment of cronies who support him at the expense of everybody else.

Aljazeera had a very good documentary on this that included interviews with the USS Liberty crew members. Johnson let the Israelis away with this because the Democrats got election funding from the pro Israel lobby. Some of the USS Liberty crew members were awarded bravery medals but these were presented in low key ceremonies at naval H.Q.'s instead of at the White House. The whole incident was hushed up.

Israel knew it was a U.S. ship & gambled that Johnson would not punish them in any way. They were right! I am not saying that Johnson could be compared with say Stalin or Hitler, but he proved himself to be morally unfit to at least some extent. Just like the great toastmaster Obama.

Michael Cohen and the end stage of the Trump presidency is a good read.

Cohen, Donald, Jr., and Ivanka monetized their willingness to sign contracts with people rejected by all sensible partners. Even in this, the Trump Organization left money on the table, taking a million dollars here, five million there, even though the service they provided—giving branding legitimacy to blatantly sketchy projects—was worth far more. It was not a company that built value over decades, accumulating assets and leveraging wealth. It burned through whatever good will and brand value it established as quickly as possible, then moved on to the next scheme.

There are important legal questions that remain. How much did Donald Trump and his children know about the criminality of their partners? How explicit were they in agreeing to put a shiny gold brand on top of corrupt deals? The answers to these questions will play a role in determining whether they go to jail and, if so, for how long.

There is no longer one major investigation into Donald Trump, focussed solely on collusion with Russia. There are now at least two, including a thorough review of Cohen’s correspondence. The information in his office and hotel room will likely make clear precisely how much the Trump family knew. What we already know is disturbing, and it is hard to imagine that the information prosecutors will soon learn will do anything but worsen the picture.

Of course Trump is raging and furious and terrified. Prosecutors are now looking at his core. Cohen was the key intermediary between the Trump family and its partners around the world; he was chief consigliere and dealmaker throughout its period of expansion into global partnerships with sketchy oligarchs. He wasn’t a slick politico who showed up for a few months. He knows everything, he recorded much of it, and now prosecutors will know it, too. It seems inevitable that much will be made public. We don’t know when. We don’t know the precise path the next few months will take. There will be resistance and denial and counterattacks. But it seems likely that, when we look back on this week, we will see it as a turning point. We are now in the end stages of the Trump Presidency.

Hannity is trying to claim that he didn't pay Cohen - in which case there wouldn't be attorney-client privilege, but OTOH there's serious panic to protect privilege. Then he's saying that he spoke with Cohen "almost" exclusively about real estate. I wonder if that was about doing things like deals with oligarchs, selling property at multiples of market value in an attempt to disguise baksheesh payments for "favours" - as it appears Trump may have done. Ahh - nevermind. He said "almost" and I suppose the exception will be the juiciest part.

Now, back to the plot, how to blame "Crooked" Hillary and that black muslim foreign president...
