Democrats contest findings of report citing 'no evidence' of Trump-Russia collusion during 2016 campaign.

 

A probe by the US House of Representatives Intelligence Committee has found no evidence of collusion between President Donald Trump's campaign and Russian officials during the 2016 presidential election.

 

"In the course of witness interviews, reviews of document productions, and investigative efforts extending well over a year, the committee did not find any evidence of collusion, conspiracy, or coordination between the Trump campaign and the Russians," the report said.

 

Democrats, who account for nine of the committee's 22 members, have contested the report's findings.

 

Adam Schiff, the committee's highest-ranking Democrat, accused Republican members of taking an inadequate approach to the investigation.

 

"Throughout the investigation, Committee Republicans chose not to seriously investigate - or even see, when in plain sight - evidence of collusion," Schiff said in a statement on Friday.

SEATTLE (The Borowitz Report)—Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, announced on Tuesday that when the purported “pee tape” becomes available it will be offered free to all Amazon Prime members.

Speaking to reporters in Seattle, Bezos said that the pee-tape offer was “consistent with Amazon’s mandate to offer the highest-quality content to our customers.”

Bezos acknowledged that the tape had not surfaced yet, but said that Amazon was “working around the clock to make that happen.”

Bezos’s offer drew a mixed response from Prime members, with some begging Amazon not to offer the pee tape to them.

Over all, though, interest in the tape was robust, as pre-orders for the item quickly made it the highest-ranking product on the entire Amazon site.

President Donald Trump looks with disdain on those who get snookered, which is odd since he's the easiest of marks for anyone with a red carpet and a batch of insincere compliments.

 

His defensiveness about being "played" was evident when asked about the upcoming meeting with North Korea's dictator Kim Jong Un. "We're not going to be played, OK? We're going to hopefully make a deal, if not that's fine," he said on Friday at the White House during a press availability. He claims he is different from all previous presidents. Sadly, that is true - he is more ignorant and susceptible to flattery than any of his predecessors.

 

Trump shows every sign he is already being suckered. He blessed talks between South and North Korea on formally ending the Korean War and tweeted gleefully the war might be over. Does he know they cannot end it on their own without other parties to the armistice, including China? Chances are he doesn't know this is part of a stage show designed to lure in an American president blinded by his own need for personal affirmation.

 

He touted North Korea's cessation of missile testing at a facility that, it turn out, may have collapsed and become inoperative anyway.

 

The danger of a gullible president is never greater than when a manipulative dictator is practiced at telling Western leaders what they want to hear.

 

Trump seems to be under the misconception that we haven't gone down this same road with Pyongyang before. Wrong.

 

My Washington Post colleague Max Boot explains that "the news coverage of the 2000 meeting between South Korean President Kim Dae-jung and North Korean leader Kim Jong Il in Pyongyang parallels the euphoria over Friday's meeting in Panmunjom between Moon Jae-in and Kim Jong Un."

I might win any Trump-hating contest but I actually thought a lot of this was bad form. It wasn't witty or funny, just vulgar and insulting. Trump is a disgusting human being and deserves to be made fun of, but I don't think this is the way to go about it. Most of the cartoons posted here are genuinely funny and they are witty. The rant was just a bitter, bad-tempered diatribe.

I disagree - some (but not all) of it was very funny indeed.

If you want pure uninterrupted comedy, watching republicans melting down over that delivers bucket loads of liquefied snowflakes from thin-skinned hypocrites, led by the abuser in chief.
