I'm cautious about believing that story right now, it's not been covered by Al Jazeera.
(I'm not keen on viewing snuff movie content, so not keen about looking at many of the so-called "news media" covering it).
Also not sure if creating more panic is in the interest of the Afghan people.
In almost every coup there is going to be casaulties, and whilst I don't agree with it, it's a little par for the course. Things are likely getting worse before they get better. I also think it's a matter of filtering where and how you get your news. Not sure what the most trustworthy source is, but the Al-Jazeera outlet 'seems' to have an OK handle on what's happening.
As I said originally, what choice was there really? The US can't stay there forever, nor should they even if they could. I guess we can hope they stick mostly to their public statements around what the future looks like.

Yep. It's certainly not all doves and olive leaves:

Russia also emphasised on Thursday that a resistance movement was forming in the Panjshir Valley, led by deposed Vice President Amrullah Saleh and Ahmad Massoud, the son of a slain anti-Taliban fighter.
“The Taliban doesn’t control the whole territory of Afghanistan,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.
In the Panjshir Valley northeast of Kabul, Ahmad Massoud, the son of Afghanistan’s most famed anti-Taliban fighter Ahmad Shah Massoud, said he was “ready to follow in his father’s footsteps”.
“But we need more weapons, more ammunition and more supplies,” Massoud wrote in the Washington Post newspaper.

Just saw a picture of the latest Taliban leader returning from exile and meeting up with his cronies.
This bunch would have looked right at home with the Spanish Inquisition. Religious nut jobs from the Middle Ages but with AK47's instead if pikes and swords.
If anybody thinks this is going to turn out well for most Afghans you are sadly deluding yourselves.

Well look at all the women's representatives that the Taliban have in their leadership. :-)

The Hindu: “The Islamic Emirate doesn't want women to be victims” Samangani said, using the militants' term for Afghanistan. “They should be in government structure according to Shariah law.” He added, “The structure of government is not fully clear, but based on experience, there should be a fully Islamic leadership and all sides should join.”
Sun UK: "All imams and mullahs in captured areas should provide the Taliban with a list of girls above 15 and widows under 45 to be married to Taliban fighters," the letter reportedly reads, issued in the name of the Taliban's Cultural Commission.
