Just more lies from Trump and his administration, while distracting from more important domestic matters.

Trump and his news anchor pal masquerading as SECDEF have opened a Pandora's Box with Iran.

The Iranian regime's doctrine of hating the US a.k.a. The Great Satan may result in ongoing tit-for-tat attacks with what has been started never being settled until Iran have dealt with Trump et al to Iran's satisfaction.

Meanwhile the rest of the world's economies continue to suffer. Trump sure as hell does not give a $hit about the rest of us.

EDIT: Or his own citizens either, since the State Dept has now issued an alert for US citizens to 'exercise increased caution' while traveling, effectively required as a result of their president's actions.

'Who knew' someone who bankrupted casinos was not good at making good decisions.
Much less someone mired in so much corruption make good choices for cabinet and advisors.
Someone who has never had care for others in a position that bears responsibility for millions of others.

If there is a future change of government there is no going back to Obama deal.
Increasingly looking like the best smartest compromise.

Iran's Theocracy and IRCG are not going to roll over now seeing their power to resist Trumps pounding of sand.
The price will be very high on any future US government and the whole region.
It may result in IRGC seeing way clear for expanded adventurism in return.
Putin's dream of old Russian empire, Iran's Theocracy may look to Persian history of empire.

It would be nice if people of Iran would get their Persian spring, however the Theocracy has no qualms massacring its own as heretics, so seems even more unlikely under war conditions.

Trump will leave a poisoned chalice for future and that may be his goal.
If I am dead and can't enjoy my power and riches, neither should anyone else have a future without me.

I think it ... unsupported by the evidence ... to attribute any long term goal seeking to Trump. Even in the short term, his goals are merely "worship me" and "make me richer" and he will do or say anything that pops into his head that he believes in the moment will serve one or both.

This has to be one of the stupidist American wars in history. Trump already lost Netanyahu's bet when Iran did not instantly collapse after Khamenei's assassination. The regional countries seem perfectly happy to pay a navigation fee instead of going through this destructive war.

And now media are reporting Iran-backed Yemen is going to blockade Saudi ships out of the Red Sea.

Media reports vary on whether Khamenei has left Iran or not. Perhaps he has gone to Yemen.

I guess we'll soon see US military attacks spreading to Yemen to deal to them if they are in fact supporting Iran by buggering up the Gulf of Aden.

Time will tell if Suez Canal shipping is ultimately affected too.

The Ansar Allah movement in Yemen blames Saudi Arabia for an attack on Sanaa International Airport when Ansar Allah people returning from Khamenei's funeral in an Iranian plane were attempting to land. Saudi Arabia controls air traffic for the airport but does not actually control the airport on the ground.

The move to block Saudi shipping seems to be a negotiating strategy aimed at allowing unrestricted operation of the airport.

That's about as likely as Churchill leaving England. Iran's military responses to nine days and nights of U.S bombing so far have been measured and calibrated. That implies Iran has options in reserve and is prepared for a long war.

The U.S campaign appears to be trying to destroy all potential supply lines to the gulf coast. Normally that would be a precursor for invasion. With the Trump administration it's hard to know if the bombing makes any sense at all.

There have been no Iran War press briefings from the Trump administration since May 5th. On Sunday night, AFP reporter Danny Kemp asked Trump, “On Iran, Mr. President, you said at the start of the war it would be four or five weeks” and Trump interjected, “This is a far bigger job that we’re doing” now. Yeah, spending a lot more too.

Over the past three days, three American service members died in that conflict: two in Jordan, where Iranian missiles struck a military base, and a third in Iraq, killed by debris during the intentional destruction of an Iranian drone. The official American death toll in the Iran war now sits at 17.

That number is low—still less, for example, than the toll from the 1983 invasion of Grenada—although the military appears to have been keeping quiet just how many troops have been injured. As my colleague Tom Nichols wrote over the weekend, the president’s limp attempt at consolation (“It’s a very sad thing,” he said) is especially dismaying because “Trump has offered no comprehensive explanation about why his administration is ordering U.S. military personnel to put their lives on the line.”

Andy Burnham the new UK Prime Minister has apparently agreed to continue to let Trump use bases in the UK for Iran War bombing when used to defend UK allies and 'interests' in the region.

Iran has said bases in the UK were recently used for B2 strikes because US carriers ran low on missiles and an RAF base in Fairford is now a legitimate target.

UK has said it is confident it can defend the base. I would not like to live in that flight path. Trump's mad escalation looks like it will drag the UK further into this destructive war.

The US is probably well equipped for two types of war:
1. Global Thermonuclear War - no one wins, but it is likely that the US can cause more damage than any potential rival.
2. Shock and Awe - where superior US weapons can cause an immediate capitulation in a potential enemy that is not well prepared for a long war.

This war is neither of the above.

Iran and Oman have seemingly agreed on a trade route to open the Strait. Based on no interference by third parties, which is obviously Trump/US

While I have no sympathy or support for Iran, they are the victim. As is Gaza from the same attackers. Or in the US case, supportive of the attacker.

In the very recent past, Iran was not favoured by most Gulf nations, but they had a detente relationship. We dont agree, but we are neighbours, lets get on. How often has Iran blocked the strait before Feb 28? None as far as I am aware.

I have little doubt that re the nuclear issue, if Iran's neighbours (excluding Israel) and EU and UK, and others, I am sure they can find a "deal" If Iran can state we want civil nuclear only and will accept checks, that is a win. As long as the US is not involved

The key, is US is not involved

Can't see Trump allowing Oman and Iran to get 'HIS' Nobel Peace Prize!

USA still has control of its sanctions which have wider effect on others who may need to trade or do financial transactions through/with USA.

Either way enough money will still flow for Iran to build a lot of ballistic missiles/drones of ever longer range in deeper tunnel factories. For a while Russia will have to rely on North Korea for missiles feeding their industry until Iran catch up.

Seems the best defense plan is to have ballistic missiles, drones a plenty, be too spiky to bother with.
Maybe we should talk to Ukraine about developing ocean going drone boats and mini submarines.

Trump, personally I think he is at core unbothered.
He is used in his family company of blaming others and just moving on.
Its never his mistake, as with the pool, the 'once was a rose garden', new failed helipad, the failing ballroom, it will be someone else's fault.
Invented vandals, he is brilliant so everyone else is incompetent.
Failure validates him in a perverse way.
Oh and triumphal arch, looking over those who did sacrifice for a nation, (the suckers) what triumph?

The gift to America heading to a billion dollar/dollars bill, for failed projects.
Trump wants a record 1.5 trillion, plus another 350M for military yearly budget.
Bill for lost bases and destruction throughout Arabia, no one has added that up yet.

(The destruction, vandalism of public property seemed to be the only bit that he is good at)
