Ignore all that. See what the people who are over Obama/Clinton think, who feel the US needs a mover and shaker rather than an elected officeholder who doesnt really do much for the country.

 

If he did win, he will attempt to be aggressive and make changes, and for many over there thats a good thing. Remember, his ideas wont get past the GOP. He will be surrounded by advisors, its they who will run the country and water down anything thats needed diluting

 

I get your points, but his antics are one issue, there are others that favour the Republicans and disfavour the Democrats

I wish people would stop complaining about having to choose between Trump and Clinton and instead start exercising their right to choose a 3rd-party candidate, such as Gary Johnson.

To be fair, most of those things apply to HC as well. 

 

I was lying in bed at 3am (jetlag) thinking to myself that Trump and Putin potentially are playing an excellent game here. War with Russia is more likely under Clinton, and if tensions continue to escalate (which is just a matter of posturing by Russia) and war becomes a reality (posturing) closer to the election, and Trump is seen as someone who can avert this due to his "better" relationship with Putin, then potentially they have blocked Clinton from the Whitehouse. 

 

War between Russia and the US doesn't make sense directly, as neither is looking to invade the other, nor would it make sense to do so. Russia and the US need each other, I suspect war breaks out if the US is drawn into it by it's alliances with other countries that Russian MAY want to invade.

I know a number of people who voted Obama round one, and didn't round two. Not because he wasn't a good choice, but because under him, nothing was getting done, because the Republicans held the House and Senate and this made him a dead duck president. 

 

A lot of Americans want progress in ANY direction rather than in none. 

 

This is the worst two candidates I can recall having to pick between in recent years.

Well, actually, I would have voted for Sanders.

 

But you're right: he does have no chance of winning. And the reason he has no chance of winning is because the two major parties control the media message. They are quite happy for you to think it's a choice between one or the other, and that there is no third or fourth choice. They also ensure there will never be any change to the electoral system, effectively First Past the Post, which guarantees a two-party system.

 

And for the same reason, I did not vote for the person I think should be given a chance at mayor of Auckland, because she won't win, and I want to be sure that the candidates I didn't want to win, won't. So again, FPP ensures outsiders have no chance even here in Auckland.

I think you could take out the word Trump and replace it with Hillary and there'd be as much sense in what you wrote.

That nails it. Thats a vote for Trump. But its more a vote for the GOP, time for a change, and someone who is a mover and a shaker. And he would be under reins from the GOP and the Senate, which is also GOP. Whats the choice?  Bring him in, get some action, he can be dumped in 4 years if need be, but the key matter, is that he has little real power, he leads the Republican Party, he won't be running the country with unbridled power. His antics have clouded the issues, its not all about his antics, they can be controlled and managed. The GOP could possibly dump him once in power and he screwed up? Not sure. Bottom line is he wont be running the place, he would be the leader of the party that runs the place.

 

Or let nothing change and bring Hillary in. Its not that much of a risk, we need to stop over analysing his antics. If his antics were in a positive but srtill aggressive form over an issue that made progress, there is a win.
