I think the richest fart is the pioneer of digital or technological totalitarianism.
Suckerberg would like to be that too, but as a buddy of the wide-mouth frog, he unfortunately beat him to it.
I think the fact many alt-right and neo-Nazis are celebrating it is evidence enough that it was an intentional use of a hate gesture.

And the fact that Musk resoundingly hasn't said "Well f..k nazi's I hate them and I apologise that there was even the slightest hint that what I did could be interpreted that way." knows he supports it.
The thing I always struggle with in all this is folks like @SumnerBoy who carry water for Elon and "just asking questions" or "both sides" here. He is a billionaire who is actively working towards destroying society for his own enrichment. To me that is a sign of significant privilege even though you may not feel like you are privileged. A lot of poor people are going to be utterly f..ked over by Trump and Elon as that is exactly how fascists operate. They appeal to a group of society with fear and make them angry so they blame that minority for all the ills in their lives and use it as a way to profit to the detriment of both groups.
Seriously... f..k Elon.

He also said "From my heart to you" which is pretty close to a known slogan used by neo-nazis when they can't or won't do the salute in public.
It was intentional and he's not saying anything because he knew exactly what he was doing.

I did not of course personally experience the Holocaust but I have read plenty and seen more than enough harrowing photos and listened to heart-rendering testimonials and other witness statements. Whenever I hear anyone try to say that maybe the nazis weren’t really all that bad after all, or maybe not all of them were, I see images of skeletal bodies stacked like firewood. When someone suggests that nazi gestures may be open to interpretation, I see mass graves dug by the buried. When anyone says that a nazi salute or emblem is just a joke or misunderstanding, I see gaping mouths with the teeth yanked out for the gold fillings. I see naked men, women and children being marched to the gas chambers. I see torture and ‘medical’ experiments. I see degradation and depravity. There is nothing ‘relative’ about nazis. They are ugly and evil.
Because the impact of the Holocaust has faded over time, and young people are allowed to grow up with no real understanding of it, you get things like Prince Harry donning a nazi uniform at a party. He is in no way a nazi. He has no nazi sympathies. He was just a young person doing something silly that he did not appreciate the impact of. He has since apologised profusely. He should not be condemned for that moment of foolishness, though the act itself certainly should be, but this is what can happen when people forget exactly what the nazis stood for and why World War II mattered.

I vote for a rename of the thread to Elon Musk - Human.
He isn't the representation of any 'Man' I'd want my son to emulate.
Anyways, with that, I am out of this thread until this last incident runs it's course and he does the next newsworthy thing.
Now that this thread is in the Politics forum, I am also out. I have said my piece and I get too emotional about things like this. I hope people who need to will think about this some more.

I have noticed that a lot of subreddits are now banning links from X.
They are stating it's a direct consequence of his actions.
Quite an interesting development and one I support.
I closed my X account a while back.

I closed my X account last week. I used it primarily as a news source and it was a hard decision to walk away. But in a global sense it is fast devolving into a cesspit for the far right, so I felt obliged to leave.
I left Twitter as soon as he bought it. I want no part of anything Musk owns. I also deleted Facebook and Instagram the day Zuckerberg decreed that hate speech was OK, as long as it was directed at me.
Was he being ironic when he referred to a fork in the road of human civilization?
