In Alabama, according to parents a pastor was invited to deliver what was billed as a mandatory “mental health” seminar.

While the pastor claims it's an anti-alcohol anti-drug 12-step program emphasizes “the Power of Jesus through the Holy Spirit to raise Hope From The Dead,” and aims to integrate the teachings of Jesus Christ into its recovery process.

Parents reported the seminar was a Christian proselytizing session. Again, parents said all students were required to attend.

I learned that in Alabama a pastor posted this:

"I told Principal Fuller at Stanhope Elmore High School that I was amazed at his willingness to let us come in and talk about Jesus and Recovery in a large public high school 🤯!! His response? …..

I’ve been doing this for 26 years. If i’m gonna get in trouble it might as well be for Jesus!

This morning, during two assemblies, hundreds of teenagers flooded central court to receive prayer for struggles of value and worth.

A big thank you to Leslie and Tracy Boozer and the Recovery Alive team @ Shoal Creek Baptist Church for breathing life into the vision of bringing the Christ centered 12 steps into local public high schools! "

When confronted the pastor claimed that the assembly was not mandatory and denied it was a religious event. He stated that the assembly’s primary purpose was to provide students with tools to manage anxiety and emotional difficulties, emphasizing that Mr. Eklund’s address focused on encouraging students to seek help for mental health issues, not religion.

Alabama Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth, said the organization "Freedom From Religion Foundation" continue to misunderstand Alabama.

“The same fringe group targeting this voluntary school assembly has attacked me in the past for simply encouraging Alabamians to celebrate Easter and seeking prayers on behalf of law enforcement officers,” Ainsworth said.

“I believe strongly that the rise in juvenile crime and the lack of respect for human life that so many young people in high-crime areas possess today is a direct result of religion being removed from our schools and other public venues.”

Which lead on to this post.

In Alabama anyone over 18 can "open-carry" a gun without a permit. Open carry means "gun is visible". The same Alabama Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth tried to get a bill passed that would allow teachers to carry concealed guns without permit also.

The exception is felons can't own a gun in Alabama. Alabama doesn't distinguish felon in-state or out-of-state which means, Donald Trump being a convicted felon, can't own or carry a gun in Alabama.

The Alabama Lieutenant Governor lead a Trump rally and had this to say

"Alabama is known for loving four things: Our love of God, our love of country, our love of football, and our love of Donald J. Trump.

Think for a minute how much our country has changed since Joe Biden has entered the White House back in January. He has taken our nation from first to worst in almost every category, and I promise you that if a football coach in Alabama performed as poorly as Biden has as president, he’d have already been fired and looking for another job

Let’s compare the liberal losses of the Joe Biden administration with the Trump record of conservative wins. Joe Biden and his open border allies are working to bring millions of illegal aliens into our country with a plan of registering to vote for Democrat candidates so they can steal our elections.

“Joe Biden and the Critical Race Theory promoters want to teach our children that the United States is a racist nation with an evil history that should make us ashamed to be Americans,” Ainsworth outlined. “Donald Trump, on the other hand, wants our children and my children to be taught that America was founded on Godly values and moral principles like liberty, freedom and opportunity for all.”

So yeah, I would suggest not visiting Alabama if you can avoid it.

In all likelyhood, felon Dinesh D'Souza only apologised because they had to pay good money after all their lies.

Distributor of '2000 Mules' election conspiracy film pulls film from all platforms : NPR

The conservative media company behind the book and film “2,000 Mules,” which alleged a widespread conspiracy by Democrats to steal the 2020 election and was embraced by former president Donald Trump, has issued an apology and said it would halt distribution of the film and remove both the film and book from its platforms.

Though “2,000 Mules” has been widely debunked by law enforcement officials and the media, including NPR, the film and book developed a widespread following among supporters of the false claim that the 2020 election was stolen.

According to Andrews’ lawsuit, the allegations in “2,000 Mules” led to violent threats against him and his family. “They worry that again they will be baselessly accused of election crimes, and that believers in the ‘mules’ theory may recognize and seek reprisal against them, and that they may face physical harm,” the lawsuit alleged.

According to a court filing in a related case, Salem settled the lawsuit brought by Andrews for an undisclosed "significant" amount. In the statement on its website, Salem wrote, “It was never our intent that the publication of the ‘2000 Mules’ film and book would harm Mr. Andrews. We apologize for the hurt the inclusion of Mr. Andrews' image in the movie, book, and promotional materials have caused Mr. Andrews and his family.”

I remember having a debate with some MAGA moron on a forum years ago who described that propaganda nonsense as being (somehow) "quite good".

I pointed out that DSouza had actually dropped the price of his "film" as - outside of a very small group of election deniers - most people weren't really interested. I tried to put my point across that retailers don't normally reduce the price of an item if it's selling well, do they? They leave it where it is (or raise it). But do you think I got through to this guy? Of course not 🙄

Bye bye law license! Sucks to be you, Rudy!

A little less gloating please. As bad as Giuiliani is, I don't like kicking people when they are down. He is paying the price for his misdeeds. Let it go at that.

Giuliani is down a few points but not out. Giuliani and many more like him will be lining up for jobs in the next Trump administration. If another one happens it will be a mess. The paperclip swindling required just to pay their legal bills will be immense.

Sorry, but really - he fully brought this on himself, and did nothing to help his cause, even after losing: https://uk.news.yahoo.com/former-georgia-election-workers-sue-212507847.html

At the end of the first day of their defamation damages trial against him last week, Giuliani told TV cameras outside court that “everything I said about them is true” and that he had proof that the media should “stay tuned.” Giuliani presented little defense in the case and didn’t testify.

But I guess at the end of the day, he's just another person on Trump's (very long) list of people he's used for his own means, then walked away from when they couldn't do what he wanted.

Sure, he did agree later on to finally shut up about them...but not after doing what he did above first, digging himself an even deeper hole. As to "paying", well, when he coughs up the amount, then IMO I feel he will have paid his dues then - and only then.

As an aside, I actually wouldn't be surprised if Trump uses totally different lawyers for his appeal as I bet you he won't end up paying the ones that defended him in the case he just lost.

I don't give a damn about Giuliani or anyone like him. I just don't want the actions of someone like that determining my behaviour. If I take delight in his misfortunes, that reflects on me and my values, not on him and his. I prefer just to say justice has been done in this case and I am glad of that, and move on. I don't want to dance on his grave.

Fair enough. But that doesn't mean you can dictate how others feel about it.

Not trying to dictate anything. Just saying that I find it unappealing.

You said, "a little less gloating please". And "let it go at that". While I wouldn't go so far as to call it "dictating", you were clearly trying to influence others behaviour because you found it unappealing, which I think is @freitasm's point.

I too don't feel it necessary to put the boot in. It is likely the ongoing consequences for Guiliani will be pretty disastrous for him, and I doubt Trump will lift a finger to help.
