Ah, Republicans. The love interest of Putin.

Senator Rand Paul single-handedly holds up $40bn US aid for Ukraine | US Senate | The Guardian

The top Democrat and Republican in the US Senate joined forces in a rare moment of unity on Thursday in an attempt to pass $40bn in aid for Ukraine, only to be stymied by a single Republican lawmaker: the Kentucky libertarian Rand Paul.

Faced with the prospect of an extended delay for the package that passed the House of Representatives on Tuesday, the Senate majority leader, Chuck Schumer, and his Republican counterpart, Mitch McConnell, sought to move forward on the aid package only to be blocked by Paul, a fiscal hawk who objects to the amount of spending proposed.

Funny Twitter Video:

Someone actually made a David Attenborough style voiceover for this video of a destroyed Russian tank.

Discussed on this Youtube video

'All species of russian tank die' in this genius parody video || 2022

And to dramatically demonstrate:

Russian tank explodes hurling turret 250ft into the air after Ukrainian missile strike

kingdragonfly: In this BBC report, Russians arrive in a stolen van daubed with the V sign used by Russian forces and the words Tank Spetsnaz in black paint.

I just saw that, such a sad story about the old bloke getting killed just doing his job.  Let's hope the clearly filmed Russians involved get justice

On a happier note, Russian combat engineers and company getting their butts handed to them while trying to bridge a river:

Silovik, the KGB, FSB, GRU cronies that fill the high positions of office, also great protectors of libertarian's.

Suppose they have freed many from the travails of living, is that how libertarian's go these days ?

kingdragonfly: In this BBC report, Russians arrive in a stolen van daubed with the V sign used by Russian forces and the words Tank Spetsnaz in black paint.

After talking to a 65 year old security guard, they waited till he slowly walked away. With his back turned, two of them calmly shot him in the back, and resumed their looting.

Looks like Putin's attempt to recreate the Soviet Union is starting with the Red Army circa 1944-45.

BBC World Service -  Russian operator to suspend electricity supply to Finland

breaking

Russian energy supplier RAO Nordic says it will suspend deliveries of electricity to Finland from Saturday ...

The Finnish grid operator said Russia provided only a small percentage of the country's electricity and that it could be replaced from alternative sources.

On Thursday, Russia threatened to take "retaliatory steps" after Finland said it planned to join NATO.

Finland shares a 1,300-km (810-mile) border with Russia, and has previously stayed out of NATO to avoid antagonising its eastern neighbour.

However, since Russia's invasion of Ukraine there has been a surge in public support for NATO membership.

On Sunday Finland is expected to formally announce its plan to join. ...

Yes, imagine how the US response will change if trump is re-elected in 2024, which is not that far away.

It wouldn't be good.

Looks like Turkey will block Finland and Swedens application for NATO membership.

They are not happy that Greece is a member either, Greece became a member in 1952.

I don’t know how, but hope Turkey gets put in their place if do block.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/turkey-breaks-with-rest-of-nato-to-oppose-membership-for-finland-sweden/amp/

Turkey accuses them of harbouring Kurdish ‘terror’ groups.

The T-90: Russia's Main Battletank (And its Failure in Ukraine)
Megaprojects

"Commonly considered to be one of the world's deadliest tanks, the T90 battle tank is the crown jewel of Russia's military vehicles. Capable of firing different types of ammunition, it is able to take out armored vehicles from over 5km's away and can travel up to 60km/h. But with more than 19 of these tanks already having been lost during Russia's war with Ukraine, the fault in it's design might be that it simply wasn't meant for urban warfare."
