Perhaps worth placing Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally (RN) on the deplorables list. They have been advancing in France so much that "Macron’s centrist list, headed by MEP Valérie Hayer, scored between 14.8% and 15.2% in the European poll, less than half the 32%-33% tally booked by RN, whose lead candidate was the party’s president, Jordan Bardella, 28."

I think there's a reason for this: centrist leaders have not done anything to better people's lives. They have not improved the economy, jobs, housing, health and, least of all, education.

Poor, uneducated people vote for "strong" leaders.

RawStory - Marjorie Taylor Greene - Trump is like Jesus because he's 'also a convicted felon'

09 June 2024

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) argued Donald Trump was like Jesus because the Christian savior was also a "convicted felon."

Greene made the remarks while speaking at a Trump rally in Las Vegas on Sunday. ...

"The Democrats and the fake news media want to constantly talk about, oh, President Trump is a convicted felon," she continued. "Well, you want to know something? The man that I worship is also a convicted felon, and he was murdered on a Roman cross." ...

"What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas"  😜

I think that's probably true of leaders of all political persuasions.

Has anybody considered that it might simply not be possible to materially improve the areas you mention. Compared to say 100 years ago all those areas are hugely improved. Maybe only small incremental improvements if any are possible from now on.

Of course, politicians won't tell you that.

It's true. The difference is that dictators don't give a shit. The others should.

Boy, bankruptcy sure seems to follow Rudy around.

From the article

"Lawyers filed a ream of documents that included the inked agreement between the ex-mayor and the roastery, which explicitly stated 'Giuliani will be entitled to 80% of net profit of each sale of Rudy Coffee.' The money will pour into a Missouri-based bank account for Giuliani Communications LLC, according to the accord."

There's a truism "there's no such thing as 'net profit'" because it's easy to get nothing from contracts that use "net profit."

Gross profit and net profit are two different ways of measuring a company's profitability.

Gross profit is the revenue generated overall after only subtracting the cost of providing a product or service.

Net profit, on the other hand, describes the total amount a business keeps after all expenses are subtracted from the earnings.

Maybe he'll borrow Trump's line as well and repurpose it? "Only the very best coffee"? That could be a sales pitch right there...

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/unaired-footage-shows-chaos-anger-of-congressional-leaders-amid-jan-6-evacuation/

Funny how after January 6 the Republicans tried to deflect what happened onto Pelosi, saying something like "she didn't have enough security", yet here she was actually asking where the hell the National Guard was.

Funny how they also conveniently ignore the "fight like hell" comment the orange buffoon made just prior to the whole event, which some in the crowd obviously took quite literally.

Alito is a conservative US Supreme Court Justice, very much involved in very political decisions around Trump and abortion.

His wife, like fellow conservative Clarence Thomson, is very much right wing. Alito's wife has raised two different flags above their homes which tacitly support the January 6th attempted coup. Additionally she told a woman posing as a conservative supporter that she wanted to fly a Catholic flag in response to a Pride flag in her neighborhood.

Rolling Stone: Conservative US Supreme Court Justice Alito Caught on Tape Discussing How Battle for America ‘Can’t Be Compromised’

Justice Samuel Alito spoke candidly about the ideological battle between the left and the right — discussing the difficulty of living “peacefully” with ideological opponents in the face of “fundamental” differences that “can’t be compromised.” He endorsed what his interlocutor described as a necessary fight to “return our country to a place of godliness.” And Alito offered a blunt assessment of how America’s polarization will ultimately be resolved: “One side or the other is going to win.”

Alito made these remarks in conversation at the Supreme Court Historical Society’s annual dinner on June 3, a function that is known to right-wing activists as an opportunity to buttonhole Supreme Court justices. His comments were recorded by Lauren Windsor, a liberal documentary filmmaker. Windsor attended the dinner as a dues-paying member of the society under her real name, along with a colleague. She asked questions of the justice as though she were a religious conservative.

I'd be interested to see the video. I'd guess he's probably referencing pregnancy termination but who knows what the context is. It sounds a lot like no compromise all the way to a civil war type talk. Good lord. Not surprising given the silly flags already.

Satanists trolling mid-west US conservatives, who want freedom of religion (meaning Christian freedom).
