freitasm:

He declared his father was born in Germany. Even though his father's birth certificate clearly says New York City.

He probably confused his father with his grandfather (easily done if you're as clever as Donald)  🙃

Wiki - Fred Trump

Frederick Christ Trump (October 11, 1905 – June 25, 1999) was an American real estate developer in New York City and the father of Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States ...

Frederick Christ "Fred" Trump was born in the Bronx on October 11, 1905.

He was the second of three children of German Lutheran immigrants Elizabeth Christ Trump and Frederick Trump.

Fred Trump's father Frederick, born in the Kingdom of Bavaria, had emigrated to the United States at the age of 16.

But wait, there's more ...

The Washington Post - House Democrats seek 6 years of Trump’s personal and business tax returns

April 3

The chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee asked the IRS on Wednesday for six years of President Trump’s personal and business tax returns, a request with which the president immediately said he was not inclined to comply.

The committee chairman’s letter to the Internal Revenue Service - and Trump’s immediate and public response - set up what is likely to become an intense and drawn-out court fight as Democrats push to see tax records they think can shed light on numerous aspects of Trump’s business dealings and Trump resists their demands.

The Ways and Means chairman’s request was expected but nonetheless represented a significant escalation in House Democrats’ wide-ranging probes of Trump and his administration.

The IRS was given until April 10 to respond.

The panel’s chairman was able to make the request because of a 1924 law that gives the chairmen of the House Ways and Means Committee and the Senate Finance Committee broad powers to request and receive the tax returns of any American. ...

According to CNN the New York Times is reporting that members of Mueller's investigative team have started saying that Barr's summary is not accurate and the report contains information much more damaging to Trump than has been suggested.

The New York Times - Some on Mueller’s Team Say Report Was More Damaging Than Barr Revealed

April 3, 2019 (extracts)

WASHINGTON — Some of Robert S. Mueller III’s investigators have told associates that Attorney General William P. Barr failed to adequately portray the findings of their inquiry and that they were more troubling for President Trump than Mr. Barr indicated, according to government officials and others familiar with their simmering frustrations.

At stake in the dispute - the first evidence of tension between Mr. Barr and the special counsel’s office - is who shapes the public’s initial understanding of one of the most consequential government investigations in American history.

Some members of Mr. Mueller’s team are concerned that, because Mr. Barr created the first narrative of the special counsel’s findings, Americans’ views will have hardened before the investigation’s conclusions become public. ...

The officials and others interviewed declined to flesh out why some of the special counsel’s investigators viewed their findings as potentially more damaging for the president than Mr. Barr explained, although the report is believed to examine Mr. Trump’s efforts to thwart the investigation.

It was unclear how much discussion Mr. Mueller and his investigators had with senior Justice Department officials about how their findings would be made public.

It was also unclear how widespread the vexation is among the special counsel team, which included 19 lawyers, about 40 F.B.I. agents and other personnel. ...

Mr. Trump has fully embraced Mr. Barr’s version of events.

For days, he has pronounced the outcome of the investigation a “complete and total exoneration” and called for the Justice Department and his allies on Capitol Hill to investigate and hold accountable those responsible for opening the inquiry. ...

One word: "dementia".

On top of his lifelong narcissistic personality disorder.

And his (possibly) borderline IQ.

He is (supposedly) in charge of the most powerful nation on the planet.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.   🙁

Tangentially related to this thread. This video is absolute gold:

Why Tucker Carlson (rabid Trump apologist on Faux News) pretends to hate the elites

There are some amazing interview recordings and TV appearances from way back where this guy revealed his true colours. More importantly, there's an excellent analysis by the narrator to show how Fox News is a tool to help the keep the dumb and unwashed who support Trump in line.

GERMANY DEMANDS APOLOGY AFTER TRUMP CLAIMS FATHER WAS BORN THERE

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—German Chancellor Angela Merkel demanded that Donald Trump issue a “complete and sincere apology” to the German people, after Trump claimed incorrectly, on Tuesday, that his father was born in Germany.

“Of the many insulting things that Donald Trump could say to the German people, alleging that his father was born here is by far the most hurtful,” she said. “He must take it back at once.”

Merkel said that Germany would consider breaking off diplomatic relations with the U.S. immediately if Trump did not acknowledge “that his father was born somewhere else.”

Despite widely available evidence that Trump’s father, Fred Trump, was born in the Bronx, the White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, stuck by Trump’s story on Tuesday afternoon. “The President is proud that his father was born in a great foreign country like Germany, and not in a bad foreign country like Puerto Rico,” she said.

The New York Times - Some on Mueller’s Team Say Report Was More Damaging Than Barr Revealed

Here is the sequel to yesterday's post (above) on the sanitised Barr/Mueller "summary" ...

The Washington Post - Trump claims he’s been ‘exonerated.’ But the truth is catching up.

April 4 at 11:41 AM (extract)

... The way that the Trump administration tried to spin the end of the Mueller investigation was a sign of its unscrupulousness and ineptitude.

Having Attorney General William P. Barr issue a four-page summary of Mueller’s nearly 400-page report, purporting to clear Trump, must have seemed like a good idea at the time.

But it now looks like a clumsy cover-up that is blowing up in Barr’s face, doing serious damage to the reputation for integrity that he has spent a lifetime cultivating.

Following up and expanding on a New York Times scoop, The Post reported that “members of Mueller’s team” are griping “that the evidence they gathered on obstruction was ... much more acute than Barr suggested.”

The Mueller team members are expressing disappointment that Barr chose not to release the summaries they had prepared for each section of their report - “done in a way that minimum redactions, if any, would have been necessary, and the work would have spoken for itself.”

Instead, Barr chose to put his own exculpatory spin on the investigation, even though the Mueller report “does not exonerate” Trump.

That Mueller’s team members are now leaking for the first time in 22 months is an indication of how upset they are - and how seriously the attorney general blundered.

These revelations increase the pressure on the administration to release the full Mueller report - a prospect that Trump once claimed to welcome but now seems to dread.

It’s almost as if the report does not actually exonerate him. ...

Trump Rambles About "Oringes" and Windmills: A Closer Look

CNN -
White House struggles to explain Trump's bizarre claim     (re. windmills and his father's land of birth)

The White House is refusing to explain why President Donald Trump claims, falsely, that the noise from wind turbines cause cancer.

Trump has had an irrational hatred for wind power ever since he failed to prevent construction of a wind farm near his Scottish golf course.

And Trump seems deranged and irrational on so many issues that one more bizarre claim hardly seems to matter.
