Obviously Krill hasn't sworn a vow of poverty to be wearing a ~$30,000 watch.

Maybe a vow of poverty is not even a thing in the eastern church, I don't know. Nevertheless, he must have felt too embarrassed to be seen wearing it and thus have it photoshopped out.

Putin himself has also been photographed wearing many expensive watches over the years. Having watches worth $700k is not bad for an official salary of USD136k

Is this a counterexample to Betteridge's Law? :-).

Updated to add: From a quick listen, the main point is that what's being sent to Ukraine is warehouses full of old stock that would otherwise have been destined for training/the National Guard/landfills, as is a lot of the other military aid that's being sent, e.g. countries sending all their Soviet-era gear into Ukraine. Not saying that they're dumping junk on them, but more that it's a pragmatic decision, may as well use the stuff rather than waiting a few more years until it has to be scrapped anyway.

In terms of things like Javelins and Stingers - the Javelin production line is now running at full speed and options are being worked on to increase it with both "economical" top speed as well as "money is no object" top speed. For Javelin the issues are mainly around getting the lines themselves bolstered and staffed. For Stingers the issues are more complicated: the CPUs they use haven't been manufactured for decades and the small stock left on the shelf will be used up in no time. A design using a newer one will take a couple of years to validate before they could begin making more Stingers.

If Russia is getting their ass kicked by 1980's hardware, it speaks volumes to what long-term unfettered corruption did to this super-power.

The top-down management, crushing of free speech, and a country being run by a modern day Stalin doesn't help.

It'll be interesting to see where this leads, the US Army's AAA has always been the USAF but that doesn't work for the proxy wars the US is likely to become involved in as long as Mini-Stalin or any successors who act like him are around. The same goes for many other countries, so the ones who've invested in sizeable quantities of modern MANPADs are all ones who don't or can't rely on their air force that much, but who are also unlikely to sell to the US: Iran, Pakistan, China, ...

For those unfamiliar with the name, George Soros, formerly György Schwartz, is a wealthy Jewish holocaust survivor. You can see why American Nazis are so obsessed with him, and depressing that the same ----- that was around in 1930s Nazi Germany is still alive and thriving in 21st century USA.

However, the comments are just one guy's opinion and he's a financier not a military or geopolitical strategist, I wouldn't take his gloominess too seriously.

In Russia at the moment the only exchange rate that matters is the black market one.

I'm guessing when India is buying Rubles to pay for Oil etc is taking this into account ?

Ukraine has less than 100 tanks.

Pretty sure they have more tanks now than they started the war with. According to Oryx, they've captured over 240 Russian tanks while only losing 176.

That may well be true however last I checked they were down to 78 tanks not including AFV's. That was maybe a month ago.

Just be easier to give ships NATO escort, my view, but they keep tip toeing around Russia.

Realise Not as simplistic as both sides probably have mines in water as well. Getting food out by rail is not an option if Russia is striking the rail network.
