dafman:

Herald reporting vandals attacking Tesla's in Auckland.

One Tesla and one Polestar, the latter probably speaks volumes about the attacker, who was captured on CCTV

I can't see I'm upset when I see Tesla dealerships burned down in France, but targeting individual owners Tesla's is just moronic. It achieves nothing but ruining someone's property and signalling to everyone that the vandal has a sub-average IQ.

Twitter Outage: Cyberattack cripples X, Pro-Palestinian hacker group Dark Storm claims responsibility
: Economic Times India

Social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, suffered multiple outages on Monday due to what Elon Musk described as a "massive cyberattack."

The disruption led to widespread inaccessibility, sparking concerns over its origin.

A hacker group named Dark Storm Team claimed responsibility, but Musk later suggested Ukraine-based IP addresses were involved.

Cybersecurity experts, however, warned against jumping to conclusions. The attack sheds light on the increasing vulnerabilities of major digital platforms.

I guess the German "dümmer als die Polizei erlaubt" isn't something to charge someone with here.

Translates roughly to "stupider than legally permitted by the police".

The last 30 days have shown just how many ways there are to break away from the toxic alliance between Trump and the powerful tech oligarchs. Trump no longer just stands for political extremism that undermines democratic values and the rule of law, but also for a digital world in which surveillance, manipulation and commercialisation threaten our freedoms. His proximity to influential tech billionaires such as Peter Thiel or Elon Musk reinforces this dangerous trend: they use their economic power to manipulate democratic processes, exacerbate social inequalities and influence public opinion in favour of their interests.

The ‘tech bureaus’ of Silicon Valley promise innovation, but mostly just deliver new ways to exploit our data, sell our attention and concentrate political power. Their platforms and tools are shaping our digital reality - and therefore our democracy. Resistance to this begins on a small scale: with every decision to avoid big tech, use privacy-friendly alternatives and become more independent.

Journeyman: Auckland electric vehicle attacks: Alleged spray paint vandal arrested after Tesla, Polestar vehicles damaged

The article says at least one of the Teslas was "undriveable and had to be towed"

How does that happen exactly. Does the car refuse to operate if the cameras are painted?

I'd suggest it's illegal to drive a vehicle without visible tail lights.

Mardi Gras in New Orleans was on "fat" Tuesday, 4 March, 2025. The vibe is generally festive, playful, and positive. People are out there to have a good time, catch throws (beads, cups, trinkets, etc.), and enjoy the music and spectacle.

Booing or heckling parade floats is pretty uncommon at Mardi Gras in New Orleans, even on political or unpopular floats.

A European Starlink rival’s shares skyrocketed 390% in a week — here’s why: CNBC

Shares of French satellite operator Eutelsat skyrocketed almost 390% last week.

Eutelsat shares continued to climb Monday, jumping more than 22%.

The gains follows speculation that Eutelsat could replace Elon Musk’s Starlink in Ukraine.
...
In February, reports said that U.S. negotiators had raised the possibility of cutting Ukraine’s access to Starlink if the two countries aren’t able to successfully negotiate a deal for the U.S. to secure access to Ukraine’s rare earth minerals.

Taiwan is also looking for a Starlink alternative too, as Elon-Xi-Putin best mates.

With Ketamine King Elon bowing to Xi-CCP re Starlink over their claimed territory
Elon's majority ownership and fikle nature could result in it being cut off
when Taiwan most needs it.

Pity Rocketlab Neutron and Flatilites are still 'aways' away, seems market wants diversity now.
Though now with precedents Trump is setting any USA launch/operator may still be problematic.

Someone obviously did;t look very hard into Eutalsat though....

All the recent launches of the LEO sats have been atop SpaceX vehicles,:)
