Woman Claims Donald Trump Raped Her 23 Years Ago

Advice columnist E. Jean Carroll alleges that now-President Donald Trump sexually assaulted her more than two decades ago.

Carroll says the incident happened in the dressing room of the swanky Bergdorf Goodman department store in Manhattan.

She was 52 and Trump was 50 when the incident allegedly took place.

Carroll makes the claim in a new memoir, which the White House calls “completely false and unrealistic.”

Trump Shrugs Off Khashoggi Killing by Ally Saudi Arabia

WASHINGTON — President Trump on Sunday shrugged off the brutal dismembering of Jamal Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist, just days after a United Nations report described how a team of Saudi assassins called Mr. Khashoggi a “sacrificial animal” before his murder.

The U.N. report urged an F.B.I. investigation into the slaying. But in an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Mr. Trump said the episode had already been thoroughly investigated. He said the Middle East is “a vicious, hostile place” and noted that Saudi Arabia is an important trading partner with the United States.

“I only say they spend $400 to $450 billion over a period of time, all money, all jobs, buying equipment,” the president told Chuck Todd, the show’s moderator. “I’m not like a fool that says, ‘We don’t want to do business with them.’ And by the way, if they don’t do business with us, you know what they do? They’ll do business with the Russians or with the Chinese.”

Just days after pulling back from striking Iran for its downing of an American surveillance drone, Mr. Trump also said he was “not looking for war,” but added that if the United States went to war with Iran, “it’ll be obliteration like you’ve never seen before.”

He added: “But I’m not looking to do that.”

Mr. Trump said that he was willing to meet with Iran’s leaders without preconditions, saying: “Here it is. Look, you can’t have nuclear weapons. And if you want to talk about it, good. Otherwise you can live in a shattered economy for a long time to come.”

The president’s remarks about Iran and Mr. Khashoggi were part of a wide-ranging interview that was recorded on Friday and broadcast on Sunday. Mr. Trump also falsely blamed former President Barack Obama for his policy of separating families at the border, lashed out at his Federal Reserve chairman and said the biggest mistake of his presidency was selecting Jeff Sessions to be his attorney general.

Mr. Trump also said he might not raise the issue of election interference when he meets with President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia next week, and he complained that the “fake news” media misreported whether he would accept help from Russia or China during his re-election campaign.

On the question of whether he would address Mr. Putin directly about election interference when they meet, Mr. Trump said, “I may.”

The showdown over Iran was just the latest instance of Trump playing both arsonist and fireman.

 

The current state of tensions is a direct consequence of the Trump administration reneging on the terms of the Iranian nuclear deal, reimposing sanctions and enacting other measures to squeeze the regime in Tehran.

 

All of this was done against the wishes of key U.S. allies in Europe and amid the protestations of much of the foreign policy establishment in Washington.

 

“Trump’s usual shtick is to paper over the problem of his creation and then declare victory, but this week he added a biblical dimension to the drama-making,” wrote Politico’s Jack Shafer.

 

“First, he assumed the persona of the vengeful god, commanding an attack on Iran in retaliation for its shoot-down of a $200 million Navy surveillance drone. Then he ducked into the wardrobe for a costume change to emerge in the cloak of the Prince of Peace and called off the strike.”

 

It’s a somewhat unconvincing act, especially as Trump’s hawkish advisers remain on the warpath. ...

Reporter: But I want to ask you a question about climate change.

The director of national intelligence, Dan Coats, said in a January report on worldwide threats that the climate emergency is -- quote -- "likely to fuel competition for resources, economic distress and social discontent."

It is a priority for the DNI, Coats.

The EPA this week, however, rolled back part of President Obama's Clean Power Plan, letting states set their own limit for coal power plants emissions.

Do you believe think human-induced climate emergency is a threat to the United States?

Vice Pres. Pence: Well, what -- what I will tell you is that we will always follow the science on that in this administration.

Reporter: The science says it is.

Vice Pres. Pence: But what -- but what we -- but what we won't do -- and the Clean Power Plan was all about that -- was hamstringing energy in this country, raising the cost of utility rates for working families across this country...

Reporter: But is it a threat?

Vice Pres. Pence: ... while other nations like China and India absolutely do nothing or make illusory promises decades down the road to deal with it.

You know, the truth of the matter is, with the advent of natural gas, with the natural gas explosion that is developing...

Remember what President Obama said?

Vice Pres. Pence: He said -- he said -- he had his climate change plan. He said it is necessarily going to cause utility rates to skyrocket, and that would force us into these green technologies.

Now you have got Democrats all running for president that are running on a Green New Deal that would break this economy.

Reporter: OK. So you don't think it is a threat, is all I'm saying? You don't think it is a threat?

Vice Pres. Pence: I think we're making great progress reducing carbon emissions, America has the cleanest air and water in the world. We will continue to use market forces...

Reporter: That is not true. We don't have the cleanest air and water in the world. We don't.
