The Washington Post - This Trump critic’s cartoon went viral on social media. Within hours, he no longer had a contract.
June 30 at 6:19 PM
Within hours after an anti-Trump cartoon proved popular on social media, its creator, Michael de Adder, was released from his freelance contract with Canada’s Brunswick News company.
The timing of the news - which de Adder shared on his Facebook and Twitter accounts over the weekend - raised eyebrows within the editorial cartooning community. ...
In the viral cartoon, which de Adder tweeted last Wednesday, Trump has pulled his golf cart up to two drowned bodies and asks, “Do you mind if I play through?” ...
Wes Tyrell, president of the Association of Canadian Cartoonists, told The Washington Post on Sunday that the timing was not coincidental, and that Trump was a taboo subject for cartoon satire at the Brunswick News. ...

That cartoon is bitingly brilliant, one of the best I have seen. It has aroused so much passion because it so precisely nails the truth to Trump's mangy hide and that of the now thoroughly corrupt Republican establishment that enables him. They fear the truth because they have tied her down and raped her and bit her. I hope she gets her turn and that her evil tormentors get what they so richly deserve. Until then, I hope that cartoonist gets the support and the audience he deserves. The world badly needs more like him and shame on the craven editors who are caving in to right-wing threats and pressure.

WASHINGTON — The House sued the Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service on Tuesday, demanding access to President Trump’s tax returns and escalating a fight with an administration that has repeatedly dismissed as illegitimate its attempt to obtain the financial records. ...
The case may ultimately go to the Supreme Court, and its outcome is likely to determine whether financial information that Mr. Trump has kept closely guarded in spite of longstanding presidential tradition will be viewed by Congress and, ultimately, the public. ...

TRUMP’S FOURTH OF JULY PARADE TO INCLUDE FLYOVER BY RUSSIAN AIR FORCE
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Calling it “incredibly exciting news,” President Donald Trump revealed on Wednesday that his long-planned Fourth of July parade in Washington will include a flyover by Russian Su-24 fighter planes.
“These are beautiful, shiny Russian planes,” Trump boasted to Tucker Carlson, of Fox News. “I’ll be the first American President to have Russian fighters flying over Washington.”
He said that he finalized the flyover deal while speaking to the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, at the G-20 Summit last week. “Putin said, ‘This is the least we can do, after all you’ve done for us,’ ” Trump said.
Trump said he imagined that the crews of the Russian military aircraft will be thrilled to fly over the nation’s capital. “I’m sure they’ll be taking a lot of pictures,” he said.
