I've been getting a few calls this afternoon about the election spending act. Call comes through with blocked caller ID, once connected plays a recorded message.

Its happened to two numbers so far that I've forwarded to my mobile. While I don't want to get into the politics of the bill myself - the practice of spamming people is questionable at best. Particularly if these private, unlisted numbers are not given out to anyone except family and friends.

The organisators of this rally may claim the moral highground but where is that highground when you spam people?

They are just random dialling, I think.  How do we find out who is doing this and stop them?  I hate those type of 'calls'!

I'm on VFX and have been getting silent calls with caller ID blocked. Turned on anonymous caller reject and there has been peace ever since. I don't get dinner time calls from Telstraclear anymore either. Is there an equavalent Telecom feature?

Next time they come through on my landland, I'll just leave them with crazy frog hold music (very annoying for the reciever) till they hang up.

My mobile phone has a caller ID Block but calling one of my friend who's using Asterisk VOIP, the number shown up on his caller ID display.

But really ... that's an annoying spam because if you send it straight through you call minder service, they leave automate message on it too... Yell very annoy ~~

Actaully for us , it plays an RVA and drops the call it dosn't sent it through to Voicemail, also if your CLI is presented as restricted / private it should not be passed on to the End User and should be blocked at the Network level, is the Asterisk user with VFX ?,
