Just confirms everything I always suspected about the state of US politics.

The beginning of the end was the 5 years ago.

There was a US Supreme court ruling regarding "Citizen United" (a corporate shill)

In a nutshell

1) a corporation is a person ("Corporation personhood")

2) people have almost unlimited freedom of expression

3) giving campaigns money is a form of expression

Conclusions: you can't limit campaign contributions.

I suspect in future books writing about the downfall of the US government, this will be the key moment.

Trump will appoint the next supreme court justice, or maybe more, so US citizens shouldn't expect less money in US politics.

The other thing not to expect: election reform.
