Gah, someone will make a tidy profit on share trading. Illegal? don't know but certainly unwise and demonstrates a level of political incompetence that is scary.

I'm actually quite pleased they have stated this intention because it is a clear indication of the irrationality of Winston Peters and his cronies.  Is it legal/ethical/sensible to state that shares of value $x will be bought back at some historic price regardless of current performance?  This could work well for National in bringing back swing voters who thought NZF was worth a protest vote.
