A local resident started shooting from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel and resort in Las Vegas into a crowd attending a country music concert.

Twenty dead, hundreds injured. Suspect killed, partner being sought.

It is hard to know what to say. It must have been terrible for the people there. I saw it on CNN and the gunfire went on forever. There must have been thousands of rounds fired into the crowd. I can't imagine what it would have been like. Our world has become a profoundly different place.

Nevada has no gun restrictions on auto and no limits in ammunition. People are not required to register guns. Open carry is ok, even in bars and casinos.

Go America.

A sad senseless act. My heart is with the victims and their families. It also saddens me that this thread is dumped in the quagmire of politics. Maybe the staff could consider moving it.

It would inevitably become politics.

Read the comments section on Breitbart etc - and it's very clear how disconnected from sanity the USA has become.

I intentionally created the topic in the Politics because eventually it will turn into a gun control ns policies discussion.

The leading thread on Reddit's pro-Trump forum is a bile-spewing polyrant, condemning "liberals" for turning it political - instead of letting the dead lie in peace.

(Such irony and hypocrisy)

On the other hand had the shooter been less than white...

Or a liberal...

He's reported as "not being affiliated with any religion" - so there's always atheism to blame.

In my opinion, it is tasteless and insensitive to politicise this tragedy.  Especially while the bodies are still warm.

This was horrifying, brutal and devastating for so many people from all walks of life.  To be using it as another opportunity to make a snide dig at Trump (as if anyone is short of more appropriate opportunities to do that!) or to push an agenda of any sort...   Well, lets just say it makes me very sad.

Thank you very much for putting into words what could not bring myself to say.

Than you

It's terrible and notice I did not put any statement that was not a fact when creating the thread.

The politicising of the topic happens because in a moment of extreme pain a nation will look for inspiration from its leader. It will also think about how it came to be.

For these reasons I decided to put this in the Politics sub-forum.
