Curious on peoples take on this, very polarizing and I am sure he could care less if 2 million people sign the petition that is currently out to stip his knight hood.

I think people need to get a grip, he was pretty obviously taking the piss.
I'm a geek, a gamer, a dad, a Quic user, and an IT Professional. I have a full rack home lab, size 15 feet, an epic beard and Asperger's. I'm a bit of a Cypherpunk, who believes information wants to be free and the Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it. If you use my Quic signup you can also use the code R570394EKGIZ8 for free setup.
I'm not particularly bothered by it but I'm not Maori. If they feel offended by this they have every right to object.

So people who oppose racism are snowflakes
I don't regard the article as racist, to be honest.
The whole honours system is based on the British version of the Magic Kingdom & Disneyland characters. On special days the 'royal' family and hangers-on parade around dressed in ridiculous fancy dress uniforms. Harry got sent to Iraq because it suited the royals and Tony Blair to have him there. William has done some good work as a rescue helicopter pilot but again it is all politically motivated for the politicians and the royal family to look good. All it takes to be a royal is to be personable and shake hands. Go back 800 years and a King actually had to lead an army and put his life at risk. These days the royal family are only there because the Brits. have not worked out how to write a constitution and have an elected head of State. All 'royalty' is a joke.
So getting back to Bob Jones' 'knighthood' it is just a great big joke anyway. Along with many other sirs and dames he got it by making a lot of money & very little else. You'll find the most deserving people are the ones getting the lesser honours such as QSO. Such as a person who has looked after foster children for 40 years. Anyway, it should be called a New Zealand Service Order. Not QSO.

But then it'd be confused with The NZSO, though that's useful if prone to blowing one's own trumpet I guess.
Bob Jones has been a troll for many decades.
The best way to deal with trolls is .... ???
People who feel targeted by particular comments have every right to be offended and to respond in appropriate fashion. Those who are not targeted may also feel offended on behalf of those who are on grounds of taste and good manners. I personally do not have a problem with Bob Jones. Some things he says I find unfunny. Others can be entertaining. He is witty and makes some valid points, or at least has in the past. The column cited here seems pretty gratuitous to me, but was obviously meant to be provocative. It probably does qualify as trolling.
Personally, I don't care whether he is stripped of his knighthood or not as I fully agree with the comments on this by @amiga500. British honours for New Zealand citizens are a ridiculous anachronism and were only reintroduced by a fawning John Key so he could have some scraps with the corgis at the Queen's table. People who want to be knights or some such nonsense should go live in Britain. I am not against honours, but they should be New Zealand ones.

TVNZ: Sir Bob told 1News on Thursday: "I wrote a perfectly factual thing. It's not racist", and called the petition to strip him of his knighthood "infantile". He told Radio Live he wants to sue her for around $20,000 and told the station, "we will have a lot of fun with her".
Seems unnecessary and excessive to me.

Next time the 'royals' come to NZ I might get out and protest. Not like that guy in Auckland who would try to throw a bucket of horse dung at them, but by making up a big sign such as 'NZ welcomes visit from London Disney Plc' Wouldn't get arrested for that.
I take it there are several online petitions to strip Sir Ngata Love of his Knighthood. You mean there isn't? I couldn't imagine why.

Poor old Sir Bob is a perfect example of a triggered snowflake.
