Is this class justice? I'm always reluctant to try to second-guess court rulings but on the surface this sure seems to me like different rules for the rich. According to the article he wasn't just importing cannabis, which I think would warrant leniency, but cocaine and meth, even if it was 'small amounts'. Also, according to the article, this is not a lost kid still trying to find his way in the world, but a 51 year-old adult. It sure smells like justice for dollars to me.

considering he only got 12 months home detention for importing class a drugs in the first instance,the reasons why are not being reported. i would say being rich is is not part of it.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Indeed - particularly including a list of quantities of the drugs and the fact that he'd ordered them online for personal use.

I was a little outraged when I read the RNZ article. That only stated "relatively small quantities of drugs" which is pretty meaningless ("relatively" - compared to what?), failed to mention that it was an unsophisticated foolish method of importing by "internet mail order". And there I was imagining that he'd got sprung for sneaking some some nose candy etc into the cabin lining of his private jet when returning from a Caribbean vacation.
