The 'good ol' boys' sound so different from the current disaster.

I watched a documentary about him only a few weeks ago. A true servant of the American people. From a bygone era (politically) unfortunately.

We don't see many world leaders like George Bush anymore. Rest in peace.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Fought in the second world war as well even though he was probably severely handicapped with heel spurs.

Say what one will about his politics, Bush Snr's letter to Bill Clinton upon leaving office revealed a degree of personal decency, ability to discern the notion of public service, and willingness to look beyond the tip of one's nose that almost every contemporary political leader is able to demonstrate to a greater or lesser degree, with the notable exception of the ugly and reprehensible buffoon currently occupying the WH. Eulogies by their nature tend to be excessively generous but in reading the ones for GHWB, anyone not half asleep can also detect the almost universal and undisguised attack upon the current neanderthal that's in office. Given that Barbara Bush/the Bush family either implicitly or explicitly sought to exclude a certain unworthy-to-be-named idiot from her funeral, one would expect the same will happen in the case of Bush Snr's as well. Again, not that a certain someone would be capable of understanding what this means but it really signifies the complete and utter rejection of his politics, worldview and notions of "governance" by mainstream leaders of recently just bygone times.

And it goes to show you how reprehensible the current Republican party apparatus is in its continuing sycophancy towards that idiot.

Looks like a certain someone has been invited and will attend the funeral. Undoubtedly the eulogies and tribute will contain numerous stinging critiques of him. Let's hope he can keep things dignified out of respect for the dead.

Trump will almost certainly make it all about himself. He has zero class and zero empathy.

Personally I think America would be better off if they installed the recently deceased GW in the White House and buried the present incumbent instead.

There is an entire Trump thread for people to rant, how about we keep this about GHB?

Your post was probably the single most off-topic in this whole thread. Whatever one might say about GHWB's worldviews and policies (if you are going to shorten someone's name to initials only, at least do it accurately), one of the most distinguishing aspects is his ability to imbue a strong ethic of public service, far-sightedness and civility into his politics. The contrast with the current monster is startling and something that observers from the spectrum of the highly progressive to the ultra-conservative have all observed without hesitation. The conversations up until your interjection were entirely relevant and observant about the best aspects of the recently departed.
